Lexington County Girls Soccer Association

2012 Spring Tournament Rules

All games during this tournament will be played in accordance with FIFA Laws of the Game, except as revised by the rules set forth by LCGSA.

The 2012 Spring Tournament will be similar to the way the tournament was ran last year.

All U10, U12, U15 and U18 teams will play the tournament based on the points system. Please see “A. Points System” below for clarification. It is the responsibility of BOTH coaches to report game results. If no score is reported, the results will be recorded as a 0 – 0 tie with no points awarded. If a game is stopped after one half has been completed, the scores stands as is.

Report your game scores at the canteen each night before leaving the soccer complex.

A. Points System – Preliminary Games

Win: 6 points

Tie: 3 points

Loss: 0 points

Shut-out: 1 point

Goals: 1 point for each goal scored up to 3

The following misconducts will result in point deductions and can therefore affect the tournament

points earned for the team:

Red Card: -2 points

Coach Ejected: -3 points

Example A: a 5-0 win by team “XYZ” over team “ABC”

·  XYZ would be awarded 10 points with a goal differential of +5. That is the maximum possible per game. (6pts for the win + 1pt for shut-out + 3pts for the 1st three goals = 10 points)

·  ABC would be awarded no points with a goal differential of -5.

Example B: a 3-2 win by team “XYZ” over team “ABC” but XYZ had 1 player red carded and the coach was ejected.

·  XYZ would be awarded 4 points with a goal differential of +1. (6pts for the win + 3pts for each of the 1st three goals – 2pts for the red card - 3pts for the coach’s ejection = 4points)

·  ABC would be awarded 2 points with a goal differential of -1 (2pts for each of the 1st two goals scored)

B. Forfeiture:

1. A team that has forfeited a game may not be declared a division winner or otherwise advance.

2. Forfeits will be scored 0-0 but with 10 points being awarded to the non-forfeiting team.

3. If a team forfeits one game in the tournament then all other teams playing that team will be awarded a 0-0 victory (with 10 points awarded). This applies retroactively as well (previous games against the forfeiting team will be changed to the 0-0 score w/ 10 points awarded). This will effectively nullify all results that apply to the forfeiting team without affecting any potential tie-breaking scenarios. (see section “C. Tie-Breaking Procedure”)
