One arrested with poppy husk:- Kashmere Gate police arrested one Kewal Kishan 35 yrs, a vagabond from Ambala and recovered 6 Kgs of poppy husk he was carrying. According to DCP North office, Kewal was apprehended at the out gate of Kashmere Gate ISBT yesterday evening where he was found moving suspiciously.
Unidentified body found:- Body of an unidentified male, 40/42 yrs, ht 5’7”, wheatish complexioned, thin built, having black hairs and long face wearing blue T-shirt and black pants was reportedly found at Kishan Ganj Rly station on 28th june. Local police has sought public help in identifying the deceased.

Three Nigerian Nationals held for Credit Card Fraud.
Seven cloned credit cards seized.
Cloned Cards used for shopping electronics and other goods in up-end markets of South Extension, Priya Cinema Complex, Rajouri Garden and Jankpuri Delhi.
The Crime Branch has arrested three Nigerians for running an International Credit Card fraud in the city. Seven cloned/fake credit cards have been recovered from their possession. These cards were used by the culprits to buy electronics and other goods from up end markets in Delhi. Mobile phones, shoes, clothes, wrist watches, etc. have been bought by the culprits using these fake credit cards. The arrested persons are:-
- Abayomi Anifowoshe (30) r/o Abuja, Nigeria – presently living in Arjun Nagar, New Delhi. He arrived in India on 13th June 2008 in Mumbai. The ostensible purpose of visit was medical treatment of his wife who is yet to come to India. He stayed in Mumbai with a friend for a week and then came to Delhi. He is sharing a room with co-accused Bawwa which has been taken on rent of Rs. 8,000/- per month. He was born in Nigeria and is a graduate from University of Ibadan, Nigeria.
- Evans Amathila Imadonmwinyi (32) r/o Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. – presently living in B.K. Colony, Karbala, Opposite Safdarjung Airport, Delhi. He arrived in India on 30/9/07 in Mumbai. The stated purpose of visit was tourism. He stayed in Mumbai with a friend for a month and then came to Delhi. He pays Rs. 5,000/- as rent for his accommodation in Delhi. His father is Nigerian and his mother is from Namibia. He completed his graduation from Benin University, Nigeria.
- Bawwa (29) s/o Ahmad r/o Lagers, Nigeria – presently residing in Arjun Nagar, New Delhi. (shares with co-accused Abayomi Anifowoshe).
His mother is from Ghana while his father is a Nigerian national. He came to India on 31.3.08 and landed at Mumbai airport. He stayed there with a friend and then came to Delhi. The stated purpose of visit was that he has kidney problem and wanted to get surgery done in Batra Hospital. He shares rent of Rs. 8,000/- with his room mate Abayomi Anifowoshe.
On 30.6.08 a complaint from HDFC Bank was received in Special Investigation Team of Crime Branch regarding fake credit cards being used on their EDC Machines installed at a Shop in South Extension. A case, vide FIR No. 208/08 dated 30.6.08 u/s 420 IPC PS. Defence Colony was registered for the same. Working on this case information was developed that three Nigerian Nationals were using fake credit cards to buy electronics and other goods in South Extension Market. It was ascertained that the three Nigerian Nationals would come to the market in the evening of 1.7.08.
A team led by Insp. Jitender was constituted including SI. Anil Malik,
HC. Veerpal, HC. Bijender, HC. Sanjay, HC. Naresh, HC. Ghanshyam, Ct. Kuldeep,
Ct. Anand, Ct. Ved Prakash and Ct. Anil. The team took up position in South Extension Market, waiting for the suspects to appear.
At about 04:30 pm the team spotted three men of African origin in the South Extension Market. They were identified as the men who had been purchasing goods using fake credit cards. All three were apprehended after a brief struggle. They were identified as mentioned above.
On sustained interrogation all three broke down and admitted to the fact that they had been using fake credit cards to do shopping in Delhi. They disclosed that they had procured the International credit cards from their friend back in Nigeria. Seven fake International credit cards were recovered from their possession. All these fake cards were taken into police possession.
A laptop and seven mobile phones were recovered from the accused persons. The laptop was found to contain data of about 200 International credit cards. Three mobile phones including two very expensive Nokia N-90 series mobile phones
(worth Rs. 40,000/- each) were recovered from the gang. These phones had been purchased using the fake international credit cards. One of the personal phones of the accused persons was found to contain data of six international credit cards in its message inbox. The messages had been sent from a number in Kenya, Africa.
It was found that the gang had been busy shopping with the fake international credit cards in up end markets of South Extension, Priya Cinema Complex, Rajouri Garden and Janakpuri, Delhi. The gang members had mostly purchased clothes and shoes with the fake cards.
The extent of the financial transactions conducted on the fake cards by the trio is being ascertained with the help of the credit card companies.
All three Nigerian National have been arrested for cheating. Their antecedents are being verified. They shall be produced in Patiala House court today and their police remand is being sought to make further recoveries. Further investigation in this case is being carried out.

GANG OF BURGLARS ARRESTED:
FORTY SEVEN STOLEN MOBILE PHONES RECOVERED
INTRODUCTION
The South District Police has arrested three members of a gang of burglars involved in the incidents of burglary from shops from different parts of Delhi and recovered forty seven stolen mobile phones and recharge coupons valued Rs. 8,710/- at their instance. One button actuated knife has also been recovered from one of the gang members.

2)Neeraj Kumar; age 20 years S/o Inder Pal R/o B-55, Okhla Industrial Area, Phase-II, New Delhi.
3) Raja; age 19 years S/o Shri Pal R/o A-133, Bhangad Mohalla, Madanpur Khadar, Delhi.
INCIDENT & TEAM
In view of the incidents of snatching of mobile phones in different areas of Delhi, a dedicated team under the supervision of Sh. K.S. Bhatnagar, ACP/Operations headed by Inspr. Vijay Singh, Special Staff/South Distt. assisted by SIs Aishvir Singh, O.P. Thakur, ASI Gyanender, HCs Vijay Singh, Sailash, Bhoop Singh, Shiv Kumar, Prem Jeet, Rajesh, Ram Kishan, Ramesh, Raj Kumar and Cts. Ashok Kumar, Mahesh and Mahender was constituted to apprehend the accused.
On 26.06.2008, at about 5.00 PM ASI Gyanender alongwith HCs Vijay, Sailesh and Cts. Ashok and Mahesh were patrolling near Mool Chand Hospital, Lajpat Nagar, they received a secret information that two youths involved in incidents of burglaries in shops shall come to central market Lajpat Nagar to sell off stolen mobile phones, if raided they can be apprehended. The information was conveyed to ACP/Operations who directed the staff present on the spot to lay trap near Central Market Lajpat Nagar.
At about 5.25 PM, two suspicious looking youths were spotted in the Central Market and were detained after signal from the secret informer. On search of one of the accused identified as Sonu Singh S/o Jagmohan R/o
A-67, Bhangad Mohalla, Madanpur Khadar, New Delhi, one button actuated knife and two mobile phones were recovered while on search of the second accused namely Neeraj Kumar S/o Inder Pal R/o B-55, Okhla Industrial Area, Phase-II, New Delhi, four mobile phones were recovered from his possession.
On sustained interrogation the accused disclosed that they had stolen these mobile phones on 22.06.2008 from a shop in the Sangam Vihar area along with their accomplice Raja. On verification, it was found that a case vide FIR No. 335/08 dt. 22.06.2008 u/s 457/380 IPC PS Sangam Vihar has been registered in the said incident. Following the recovery, a case vide FIR No. 201/08 dt. 26.06.2008 u/s 25 Arms Act and 411/34 IPC PS Lajpat Nagar was registered against the accused and investigation taken up. Three more stolen mobile phones with recharge coupons value Rs. 8,710/- were recovered at the instance of accused Sonu from his house. They further disclosed that more stolen mobile phones could be recovered from their accomplice Raja S/o Shri Pal R/o A-133, Bhangad Mohalla, Madanpur Khadar, Delhi. Raids were conducted at the possible hide outs of the accused Raja who was arrested from his house. Thirty eight stolen mobile phones were recovered at his instance from his house.
Previous involvements of the accused are being verified and the recovered mobile phones are being examined for their linkage to the cases. Further investigation is in progress.

GANG OF INTERSTATE SNATCHERS ARRESTED:
TWENTY STOLEN MOBILE PHONES RECOVERED
INTRODUCTION
The South District Police has arrested a three member gang of snatchers involved in the incidents of snatching of mobile phones from different parts of Delhi and recovered twenty stolen mobile phones at their instance. Two button actuated knives and motorcycle used in crime have also been recovered from the gang members.

INCIDENT
In view of the incidents of snatching of mobile phones in different areas of Delhi a dedicated team under the supervision of Sh. K.S. Bhatnagar, ACP/Operations headed by Inspr. Vijay Singh, Special Staff/South Distt. assisted by SI Aishvir Singh, ASI Gyanender, HCs Vijay Singh, Sailesh, Phool Singh, Bhoop Singh, Shiv Kumar, Prem Jeet, Rajesh, Ram Kishan, Ramesh, Raj Kumar and Cts. Ashok Kumar, Mahesh and Mahender was constituted to apprehend the accused.
On 30.06.2008 at about 4.00 PM, HC Phool Singh alongwith HCs Rajesh, Ram Kishan, Ramesh, Raj Kumar and Premjeet were patrolling in the area of Press Enclave Malviya Nagar when a secret informer informed that three youths riding pulsar motorcycle involved in incidents of mobile snatching shall assemble near Sai Baba Temple Khirki Village Malviya Nagar for commiting more crime. The information was conveyed to Sh. K.S. Bhatnagar, ACP Operations who constituted a team headed by S.I Aishvir Singh and directed the staff present on the spot to lay trap around the Sai Baba Temple Khirki Village Malviya Nagar.
At about 4.45 PM, three suspecious looking youth riding pulsar motorcycle were spotted near the temple and the staff members zeroed in after signal from the secret informer. Two of the youths brandished button actuated knives while the third tried to flee from the spot. However, the team members quickly responded and over powered all the three youths. The accused in possession of button actuated knife were identified as
Sakir Khan @ Golu S/o Shabir Khan R/o Gali No. Q-12, Sangam Vihar, New Delhi and Mahabir More @ Bangali S/o Jagdish More R/o G-I/110, Madangir, Delhi. The third accused was identified as Manoj Kumar S/o Hari Singh R/o K-II 28, Madangir, New Delhi. On search of accused Manoj, one stolen mobile was recovered from his possession. A case vide FIR No. 528/08 dated 30.06.2008 u/s 25/27 Arms Act and 411/34 IPC registered against the accused as the mobile phone recovered from accused Manoj was found to be stolen vide FIR No. 188/08 u/s 356/379 IPC PS Lajpat Nagar.
On sustained interrogation the accused disclosed that they had been indulging in the incidents of snatching mobiles in different parts of Delhi. Eight stolen mobile phones each were recovered at the instance of accused Sakir and Manoj from their houses while three stolen mobile phones were recovered at the instance of accused Mahabir from his house. Two cases of mobile snatching vide FIR No. 315/08 and 490/08 PS Malviya Nagar have been worked out. Previous involvements of the accused are being verified and the recovered mobile phones are being examined for their linkage to the cases. Further investigation is in progress.

ONE ARRESTED FOR SELL OF DUPLICATE BONNET STARS OF MERCEDES BENZ CAR WORTH APPROX. RS. TEN LAKHS.
With the arrest of Dinesh Chhabra @ Raju, aged 41 years s/o Pritam Lal Chhabra r/o AP-57, Shalimar Bagh, Delhi, North District police has seized duplicate Bonnet Stars of Mercedes Benz Car worth approx. Rs. ten lakhs.
TEAM AND THE INCIDENT
A team consisting of Inspr. Ashok Gera, HC Jai Singh and Ct. M. Sumbaiah of District Investigation Unit of North District was constituted under the close supervision of Sh. S.S. Malik, ACP/DIU/North District, Delhi.
A specific information was received that one person was involved in selling of duplicate Bonnet Stars of Mercedes Benz Car. This information was further developed.
After confirming the facts, a raid was conducted at Shop No.1/174, Dunja Sharif, Kashmere Gate, Delhi, where the accused Dinesh Chhabra was apprehended and 1008 Bonnet Stars of Mercedes Benz Car (Duplicate) were recovered. A case of Copy Right Act has been registered at P.S. Kashmere Gate, Delhi in this regard.
INVESTIGATION
During investigation, the accused was arrested and the duplicate Bonnet Stars of Mercedes Benz Car were taken into police possession. Further the accused was interrogated at length, during which he revealed that he was in the business of sale of duplicate Bonnet Stars of Mercedes Benz Car for the last 10-12 years. Since the accessory was very costly and the profit margin was high, he decided to procure the duplicate Bonnet Stars of Mercedes Benz Car and sell the same in open market at his shop no. 1/174, Dunja Sharif, Kashmere Gate, Delhi.
Further investigation / interrogation is in progress.

INTRODUCTION
With the arrest of a person namely Ashu, aged 24 years, S/o Mahipal R/o Sahipur, Delhi, the North West District Police has solved a case of theft of a motorcycle and a gold chain. The Police team has also recovered the stolen motorcycle No. DL-7S-AT-7949 from the possession of accused person.
INCIDENT & TEAM
On 14.5.08 it was reported in the PS Shalimar Bagh, Delhi that a motorcycle No. DL-7S-AT-7949 and a gold chain have been stolen. Accordingly two case vide FIR Nos. 326/08 u/s 379 IPC and 322/08 u/s 379/356 IPC, respectively were registered in PS-Shalimar Bagh and the investigation of the cases were entrusted to a police team comprising of SI Ramesh Dutt, ASI Kartar Singh, HC Shesh Dhar, Raj Kumar and Ct. Charan Singh Dahiya under the close supervision of SHO/Shalimar Bagh, Delhi.
INVESTIGATION
The police team developed more information about the incident and deployed sources to apprehend the co-accused. Subsequently co-accused Krishan Kumar S/o Kanwar Singh R/o Sahipur Village was arrested on the disclosure of Ashu.
INTERROGATION
Interrogation of the accused person revealed that Ashu was an old BC of PS-Shalimar Bagh. . He was found involved in 14 criminal cases of PS-Shalimar Bagh, Prashant Vihar, Subzimandi, Roop Nagar etc.
Efforts are continued to recover the stolen gold chain and investigation is in progress.

This refers to the above captioned news item appeared in Times of India today dated 2-7-2008. The news has been found to be factually incorrect and misleading
Crime in Delhi is under control and in fact declining and there is no spiralling crime graph as has been indicated in the caption itself. Heinous crime has fallen by 8.87 % with 1028 cases during the year 2008 (upto 29th June) as compared to 1127 cases in the corresponding period of last year. Likewise non heinous crime has fallen by 12.12% with 22932 cases during the year 2008 (upto 29th June) as compared to 26095 cases in the corresponding period of last year. The head-wise comparative crime statement is enclosed herewith, which is self-explanatory.
