Denver International Airport to Host Airport Infrastructure Management (AIM) Contractors and Subcontractors Bonding Education Program

DENVER — Denver International Airport will host a free, two day Bonding Education Program (BEP) in Denver on Oct. 27 and Nov. 5. The USDOT past classes are strongly endorsed by participants for the business management information as well as its bonding information. This class will specifically address the airport operating environment.

This class, developed by the U.S. Department of Transportation for DIA, is tailored for AIM construction contractors and subcontractors that are either currently contracting or wanting to compete for any type of AIM construction-related contracts, e.g facilities, heavy highway or airfield projects. The program will take place over two days from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The class will be held at the WorldPort, Conference Room H, 24735 E. 75th Ave. in Denver. Lunch will be provided.

Participation is free to businesses that qualify but pre-registration is required to attend. The deadline for registration is Oct. 13. Call 303-800-3711 for information.

One previous participant said of the class: “My time was nothing compared to what I’ve gained. I can’t believe it was free. This would have helped with our struggles immensely, even though we already had a bond. People who spoke truly want to see my business succeed.”

Bonding ability is key to growing a construction business. This program aims to help businesses grow by obtaining or building bonding capacity.

This BEP consists of a comprehensive set of classes designed to address what a business needs to do to become bond-ready, as well as one-on-one sessions with local surety bonding professionals who help business owners assemble the materials needed for a complete bond application.

The class also provides more than bonding information. A construction CPA will share what you need to do to become bond ready. Attendees will learn how to succeed from getting a bond to job site expectations. A prime contractor who works at DIA will provide the inside track on what primes are looking for in a subcontractor. Also, an attorney who works for the airport will discuss the ins and outs of contracts. In addition, attendees learn about:

-Business Plans

-Marketing

-Construction Accounting

-Estimating

-Bidding

-Dispute Resolution

-Banking Relationships
-Contract Negotiation

Those who complete the class will be given priority attention at a Spring 2016 event called Prime Connections, which is like speed dating between prime contractors and subcontractors.

For registration information, contact Curt Olson at 303-800-3711 or . Space is limited and a completed application is required.

The Bonding Education Program is presented by The U.S. Department of Transportation Small Business Services and the Surety & Fidelity Association of America.
