POSITION TITLE:Clinical Instructor - Continuing Sessional Appointment

Must be available for 8 hour (fall and winter) and 12 hour (summer)clinical shifts, days/evenings, two days per week

BASE STIPEND OR HOURLY RATE: $ 78.92+ 4% vacation pay

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:Include any significant variation in duties/responsibilities as outlined in Article 5.04 of Collective Agreement.

This course provides an opportunity for students to practice in agroup setting (hospital) focusing on chronic disease or palliative treatment. Practice settings: complex continuing care medicine, mental health, rehabilitation, palliative care, high acuity long term care.Learning Centre activities include medication administration, VAC treatments, feeding pumps, patient-controlled pumps and assessment of consciousness/orientation/pain).

Clinical Instructor - Continuing Sessional Appointment is responsible for:

•Supervision of students in clinical experiences as outlined in the course syllabus

•Completing clinical hours prescribed by the clinical schedule provided

•Evalution of each individual student’s progress at midterm and following completion of clinical hours; Final evaluations of students in clinical placements will occur after the completion of clinical placement

•Timely and continuous feedback to students on clinical experience, preclinical worksheets and reflections as per course syllabus

•Attendance at faculty orientation, clinical orientation, course meetings

•Submitting completed signed evaluation forms to the School of Nursing Office within two weeks of course completion

•Noting absences, late, ill days/hours on evaluation forms

•Consulting with the Course Coordinator or BScN Program Coordinator as required in the course syllabus

QUALIFICATIONS:

Undergraduate degree in nursing (required); Masters in nursing or in discipline directly related preferred; PhD (complete or in progress) in nursing considered an asset. Evidence of continued professional development in nursing.. Be a member in good standing with the College of Nurses.Once an offer of employment has been made, you will be required to obtain and submit non-academic requirements by thedeadline date specified for the relevant term(s).
