Job Title:Development Manager

Responsible to:Trustees – Pride Cymru

Direct reports:Project Officer, Volunteer team

Strategic relationships:Stakeholders within the LGBT communities, funders and contractors. Senior managers from equality agencies in the voluntary and statutory sectors.

Hours of work:30 hours per week. However, if additional funds can be identified, this will rise to 37 hours per week in years’ 2 and 3.Due to the nature of this post it will occasionallyinvolve evening and weekend working to be responsive to the needs of the volunteers and partner agencies.

LocationThe role will be based at our office in Cardiff

Purpose of the post:The post holder will support and co-ordinate the development of Pride Cymru to ensure the following objectives are met:

  • Successful delivery of Pride Cymru's forward work plan and management of funded projects
  • Identify and generate new sources of income
  • Develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders
  • Develop and manage communications with communities and stakeholders to ensure consistency of message
  • Effectively manage Pride Cymru’s Project Officer
  • Support/assist the Management Committee

Duties and responsibilities

Fundraising:

  • Review current fundraising activity. Produce and implement a fundraising plan to increase current levels of fundraising in line with targets, to include statutory, trust, individual and business sources.
  • Write and submit high quality applications for funding
  • Maintain accurate records of all fundraising activity
  • Produce regular reports reflecting performance against targets and income generation.
  • Manage relationships with funders, communicating regularly and appropriately.

Development:

  • Delivery of the forward work plan to ensure targets and objectives are met to time and budget.
  • Liaise with Trustees and Management Committee and other stakeholders to ensure that the projects develop smoothly and effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Produce regular reports reflecting performance

Staff Management:

  • Effective management of Pride Cymru’s Project Officer in the delivery of projects and to ensure that targets and reporting commitments are made.
  • Provide regular supervision and support including carrying out an annual review of their work.

Volunteer Management:

  • Assist the Management Committee to ensure a pool of suitable volunteers is recruited, appropriately trained and supported in their roles.

Policy management:

  • Ensure that Pride Cymru is legally compliant with its policies and practices, and that it meets the highest standards appropriate to the organisation

Other duties:

  • To attend appropriate meetings as and when necessary by the Management Committee and Board of Trustees
  • To abide by Pride Cymru’s constitution, policies and procedures at all times.
  • To contribute to the positive image of Pride Cymru in all of its undertakings.
  • To carry out tasks that are required by the Event Director from time to time
  • To carry out the above duties at other sites as necessary.

EXPERIENCE
Proven fundraising experience, including statutory, trust, individual and business sources.
Experience of writing and submitting successful funding applications.
A track record of successful project management including evidence of project management skills and the ability to deliver targets and deadlines.
Experience of volunteer recruitment, training and supervision and line management of staff.
Experience of day-to-day financial administration, including monitoring income and expenditure, and handling petty cash. / E

Educated to A Level or equivalent experience.

CIRCUMSTANCES
This post is based at our office in Cardiff.
