ABSTRACT

This document summarizes the instructions to authors for typesetting their papers for publishing intothe UACEG2012 Proceedings and CD. All authors are requested to adhere to these instructions, in order to avoid delays in the typesetting phase, once the paper is accepted for publication. This short document can be viewed as a sample paper; and will assist the authors in manuscript preparation.

1. Introduction

Authors are requested to submit electronic versions of their manuscripts in order to facilitate an accurate typesetting, once the papers are accepted for publication. The paper must be written in English or Bulgarian.

Authors are encouraged to use the template for Microsoft Word to prepare the final version of their manuscripts (the file you are reading). Authors are requested to submit the manuscript in a Word Document Format, to facilitate typesetting. If Microsoft Word is not available, then use other word processors such as OpenOffice.org, LaTeX or similar. Authors are also encouraged to submit a copy of manuscript in PDF format along with the source files for the manuscript for proof reading purposes.

2. Organization of a paper

A paper for publication in the Annual of the UACEG must contain a title, names and affiliations of the authors, a list of keywords, a brief abstract at the beginning of the main body, a conclusion section at the end of the main body, and a list of references that follows the conclusion section.

The full length manuscript including figures, tables and references must not exceed 20 pages.

3. Text layout

Text should be produced within the dimensions shown on these pages:

  • A4 paper should be used with nominal dimensions 297 mm height and 210 mm width;
  • One column 132 mm wide and 201 mm height on all pages;
  • Top margin is 46 mm, bottom margin is 50 mm;
  • Inside and outside margins are 39 mm.

3.1. Title of the paper

The title of the paper should be in bold, 12 pt size, spacing 24 pt before and 18 pt after, with capitals placed at the top of the document as illustrated (apply “Title” style). This should be followed by the authors’ names in bold, 11 pt size, spacing 18 pt after (apply “Name” style). Affiliations of the authors should be presented as footnotes. Footnotes should be numbered consecutively in arabic numbers. The index of the footnotes, in superscript, should be placed in the upper-right corner of the word that is to be annotated. The title and the authors’ names should be centered in the document.

3.2. Abstract

The label of the abstract is centered, typed in capitals with bold, 12 pt size, spacing 12 pt after (apply “Abstract” style). The text of the abstract should contain a brief description of the contents of the paper and should be written as main body text (apply “Normal” style).

3.3. Main body

The main body of the manuscript should be written with Times New Roman font, 10 point size, single spacing, except for the heading as outlined below. For paragraphs of the text use indentation equal to 10 mm (apply “Normal” style). Please check spelling before sending your manuscript. The manuscript will not be edited and the authors are responsible for mistakes and inaccuracies in the text or illustrations.

3.4. Headings

Paper sections should be numbered consecutively in arabic numbers, starting from 1.

Level one headings for sections should be written in bold, 12 pt size font, spacing 18 pt before and 12 pt after (apply “Heading 1” style). Level one headings should be numbered using arabic numbers, such as 1., 2., ....

Level two headings for subsections should be written in bold, 11 pt size font, spacing 12 pt before and 6 pt after (apply “Heading 2” style). Level two headings should be numbered after the level one heading. For example, the second level two heading under the third level one heading should be numbered as 3.2.

Level three headings for subsections should be written in bold, 10 pt size font, spacing 6 pt before (apply “Heading 3” style). Similarly, the level three headings should be numbered after the level two headings, such as 3.2.1., 3.2.2., etc.

3.5. Equations and mathematical expressions

Two different types of styles can be used for equations and mathematical expressions. They are: in-line style and display style.

3.5.1. In-line style

In-line equations/expressions are embedded in paragraphs of the text. For example, . In-line equations should not be numbered.

3.5.2. Display style

Equations in display format are separated from the paragraphs of text. They should be centered in the text. These equations should be numbered consecutively using arabic numbers enclosed in parentheses and set on the right margin. See Eqn. 1 for an example

,(1)

where variables or symbols should be defined, unless obvious. Use an equation editor.

3.6. Tables

Tables should also be numbered consecutively using arabic numbers. They should be placed in the text soon after the point where they are referenced. Tables should be centered in the text and should have a table caption placed above. Captions should centered in the text in the format “Table 1. The text caption ...”, where the number of the table follows the key word Table in bold, followed by the text caption. Use 10 pt size font (apply “Table-Title” style). See Table 1.

Table 1.Insertion of a table

Parameter / Column 1 / Column 2
Row 1 / 3 / 5
Row 2 / 7 / 11

3.7. Figures

Figures should also be numbered consecutively using arabic numbers. They should be placed in the text soon after the point where they are referenced. Figures should be centered in the text and should have a figure caption placed underneath. Caption should be centered in the text in the format “Figure 1.The text caption ...”, where the number of the figure follows the key word Figure in bold, followed by the text caption. Use 9 pt size font, spacing 6 pt before and 6 pt after (apply “Fig” style). Illustrations must be submitted in digital format (JPG preferred), with good resolution, integrated into manuscript. Note that Proceedings will be produced in greyscale style, close to A5 size (i.e. about 70% reduction of size). The figures and the tables are separated by a blank line from the main text, see Fig. 1.

4. Citation

The sequential numeric format of citation must be used for the references. For example, see [1]. No citation of the page number should be used. Citation of the figures should be in the format of Fig. 1. Citation of the tables should be in the format of Tab. 1.

5. Literature

All references should be listed at the end of the paper. The names of the authors should be in italic, with the last name(s) first for the first author only. The paper (book) title, their source description and the year of publishing follow the authors’ names. Please sort the list of references alphabetically.

Add an acknowledgement when appropriate, without numbering.
