<Conference Keynote>

Adam L. Saenz “The Power of a Teacher”

  • Adam’s message is “Teachers have tremendous power to make a difference” and he will inspire all educators to strive for educational excellence.

<TESL Featured Presenter>

Dr. Joan Wink, professor emerita of CaliforniaStateUniversity. With “Principles of Pedagogy” Dr. Wink will share what she has learned in 45 + years of teaching in different states and academic contexts. She will share visuals and touching stories that will resonate with all educators!

Dakota TESL Annual Meeting>

North and South Dakota Teachers of English as a Second Language invites new and renewing members and anyone interested to the annual meeting on Thursday October 9, 2014 at the Radisson Inn. Come to participate in professional development and networking with fellow ESL and ELL educators. Meeting will begin approximately 30 minutes after the regular sessions end.

<Breakout Sessions>

Breakout sessions are concurrent workshops providing information and instruction on a variety of topics, including, but not limited to:

  • Progress Monitoring with ELLs
  • Program Monitoring
  • Special Education with ELLs
  • Reading strategies for beginning readers and ELLs
  • New American outreach
  • There are numerous of additional session strands including Title I, special education, RTI, 21st Century Learners, Technology

Conference Venue

The 2014 Dakota TESL conference will be held at the BismarckCivicCenter, 315 South 5th Street, BismarckND. Attendees are responsible for their own hotel arrangements. A block of rooms will be available at a variety of hotels in Bismarck. Guests must contact the hotel directly to make reservations to receive the special group rate and must specify that they are with the DPI Conference. IMPORTANT!!!!! Registration for the DPI/TESL conference is SEPARATE from TESL membership. You will need to register and pay for the conference separately than your TESL membership.
