3 minutes / Watch the introductory IB Leaner Profile video with your class. Teacher points to the IB learner Profiles on their wall to ask about background knowledge (KWL) /
30 minutes / Show the IB Learner Profile powerpoint. The teacher writes down on the white board important or key words from each slide. Students should have the opportunity to assist in finding the key words. / IB Learner powerpoint, whiteboard
15 minutes / First divide your class into ten groups. Then assign a learner profile to each group. Students will brainstorm which character(s) in the novel Seedfolks best represents their assigned learner profile. / Seedfolks book
5 minutes- pack up
PART TWO: Block 5
Whole period / Students return to their assigned learner profile groups. Teacher distributes one sheet of copy paper to each group along with art supplies. Each group should have the following on their copy paper:
1. I.B Learner Profile in the center
2. Name of character
3. Keyword(s) and phrases from the whiteboard
4. Symbol representing the learner profile
5. Two quotes from the text that supports why the learner profile matches the character. Be sure to include page # where the quote is found. / Art supplies, copy paper, Seedfolks book, example
If time remains… / If there is time each group can go up and present
