BELFAST EDUCATION AND LIBRARY BOARD
The Belfast Education and Library Board under the provisions of the Education and Libraries (Northern Ireland) Orders, is responsible for providing an education and library service, including a youth service, in the Belfast area. The provision of public library services transferred to Libraries NI on 1 April 2009. The area has a population of approximately 268,000. The number of pupils in attendance at school in the board’s area is approximately 57,000.
This is a temporary post to cover a career break.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must hold a teaching qualification as approved by the Department of Education (NI).
Please note where teaching experience is required only experience gained post qualification will be considered.
Essential:
Applicants must at the closing date have a minimum of 3 years experience teaching in early years (working with children aged 3-7), one of which must be in a foundation stage class.
Preferential:
Preference may be given to those applicants who at the closing date:
(i) have experience of leading and delivering play based learning; and/or
(ii) have experience of planning outdoor play activities; and/or
(iii) have experience of assisting with drama in school concerts.
The panel reserves the right to enhance these criteria.
On taking up this post the successful applicant must be a registered teacher with the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland.
Posts involving work in educational institutions are subject to the provisions of the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (NI) Order 2007. The successful applicant will require an enhanced disclosure check which at present costs £30. Further details regarding the payment of this check will be issued with the contract of employment.

Ø To be responsible for co-ordinating and developing play based learning throughout the school.
SCHOOL INFORMATION
The school is situated in a pleasant suburban area of the city. There is a purpose built Nursery on site which is an integral part of the school. The main school caters for the P1-3 age range.
There is a wide range of experience and expertise on the staff. The school aims to provide a rich and varied curriculum in order to promote the all-round development of the child in a happy and caring environment. Educational visits are planned to enhance the children’s learning experience. Together with the development of competence in the basic skills, the growth in the pupils’ confidence, self-esteem and independence is considered a priority. A variety of extra curricular activities are available to P3 pupils, including a choir, recorder, drama, dance, cookery, computers, art, French, tennis and football. The school also holds the prestigious Green Flag in recognition of our achievements in Eco work.
There is close co-operation between the school and parents who contribute much by their active support. They are kept fully informed of the progress of their children through parent/teacher consultations and an annual written report. The PTA organises events throughout the year and these are always well attended. The Board of Governors takes a keen interest in the life of the school and is very supportive of the staff. Prospective parents are invited to visit the school on the Open Day held in December or by arrangement with the prinicipal.
