Engagement Scholarship Travel Support Application- Special Call

The Office of International Affairs (Global One Health initiative) and the Office of Outreach and Engagement offer travel support funding for Ohio State University faculty, staff and students to attend the 4th International Congress on Pathogens at the Human-Animal Interface (ICOPHAI): Environmental Changes and Impact on Global Health Congress, November 7-9, 2017 to be convened in Doha, Qatar. This travel support funding is to offset costs associated with attending and participating in the event. This sponsorship has been realized through the generous contribution of several Ohio State units.

Funding is available for faculty, staff and students who present work relevant to the thematic areas of the Congress as described on icophai.org including:

· Zika virus, Emerging and re-emerging Infectious Diseases

· One Health and impact of climate change;

· Antimicrobial Resistance and drug related issues;

· Biosecurity, Biodefense and Disaster Response;

· Pathogenesis, vaccine development and new Meta-Genomic Technologies;

· Food-borne and Water-borne Diseases;

· Parasitic and environmental Zoonoses;

· Innovative Capacity Building, e-Learning and Outreach approaches

Individual presenters are eligible for up to $2,000 to offset the cost of attendance at this event.

Due to the limited amount of funding, individuals applications are considered after a thorough review of merit and acceptance of submitted abstracts to the ICOPHAI congress. Funds will be released after abstracts are reviewed and disposed to sessions.

Completed applications must be submitted as a single PDF document to , by August 15, 2017.

Applications will be evaluated by the Office of International Affairs (Global One Health initiative) and applicants will be notified of their status (acceptance / non-acceptance) not later than 45 days before the date travel is to begin.

**NOTE: All travel support funding requests must have an approved OSU (T) number processed through your college/unit/department fiscal agent. Funds will reimburse your travel and will be transferred to a valid Ohio State Chartfields destination upon completion of travel and submission of a Post-trip Expense Report (PTER) through your service center.

The mission of the ICOPHAI consortium is to accelerate the global capacity and knowledge sharing to effectively reduce the burden of infectious and non-communicable diseases, environmental hazards, and their risk factors using the “One Health” platform. ICOPHAI aims to strengthen leadership to integrate professionals from different areas and regions. The "One Health" concept is increasingly embraced by the WHO, FAO, OIE and regional academic, research, regulatory and policy-making bodies. This holistic view of health allows implementation of sustainable programs for the betterment of public health. The ICOPHAI Congress focuses on interdisciplinary knowledge-sharing platforms to address research, capacity building and policy developments that ensure and promote safety of food and water; prevention of vectors, and mitigation of environmental hazards. It promotes the positive benefits of international trade, tourism, other livelihood and economic benefits.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to demonstrate a high-level of engagement at ICOPHAI by submitting an abstract, participating on panels, supporting a presentation, or formally sharing relevant information about a complementary OSU program, unit or initiative during breakout session(s) or a pre-Congress workshop.
