JOB TITLE: Advanced Apprentice - Business Administration

LOCATION: Clapham Campus

RESPONSIBLE TO: Senior Nursery Manager

SALARY: £12,542 per annum incl. LWA

OUTLINE OF POST

The key role of the post is to provide a high quality customer experience by operating an efficient and professional front line customer service within the College Nursery.

Undertaking an Advanced Apprenticeship as an administrator under the Business Administration framework, the post holder will support the delivery and management of the College’s Nursery provision.

The postholder will undertake first line contact with members of the public, students, staff and other visitors to the College Nursery in line with the service level agreements.

The apprentice will commit to attending College one day a week.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.  To provide a professional service at any of College Centres

2.  To monitor all enquiries and provide feedback on volume and range, identifying key issues for action/follow-up.

3.  To be responsible for ensuring that the Reception area is a welcoming and friendly environment, and to set up and maintain information/display boards.

4.  To deliver a professional telephony service-ensuring calls are answered promptly and directed to appropriate members of staff.

5.  To maintain Nursery email accounts.

6.  Be flexible to work within working practices of nursery. Be prepared to help where required

7.  To actively contribute to room/staff meetings for discussion, planning and development of good practice.

8.  To develop and maintain good relationships with the parents/guardians who participate in the running of the Nursery.

9.  To input Learner data on applications in a timely and accurate manner.

10.  To ensure that all supplies are used with due economy.

11.  To assist colleagues with observation, assessment, planning, evaluation and report writing until competent/trained.

12.  To assist with admission administration such as sending letters, email and invites under guidance as and when is required.

13.  To work towards achieving KPIs as outlined in service standards.

14.  Contribute to QIP and attend team meetings as when required.

15.  To assist with open enrolment, open events and interview evenings.

General

14.  To be aware of the principles of safeguarding children and young people as they apply to the role with the College. Actively promote and implement the College’s Safeguarding Policy.

15.  To be involved in College staff development and training schemes and participate in PDR procedures within the School.

16.  To adhere to the College's Single Equality Scheme with respect to staff and students.

17.  To comply with and implement the College’s/Nurseries Health and Safety policy.

18.  To undertake any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as may be required

Qualifications / 1.  Personal skills in English, Mathematics and ICT by holding Level 2 qualifications with a 5-year currency (or by undertaking initial assessments at job interview stage and by achieving Level 2 within one year of their appointment date as appropriate).
2.  Willingness to achieve NVQ in Business Administration.
Experience / 3.  Experience of working in an office environment using administrative systems, including Information Technology.
4.  Working knowledge of relevant legislation as it affects office practice, and in particular Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities legislation and experience of implementing policy and practice in these areas.
5.  Experience of dealing and working directly with people and providing services to a wide range of clients.
6.  Experience of using Microsoft IT packages to a high standard of quality and accuracy.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities / 7.  A smart and professional image to represent the organisation and a willingness to abide to a black and white dress code.
8.  The ability to welcome visitors and promote the College in a positive manner to service level standards.
9.  Ability to communicate effectively with a range of clients and external agencies both orally and in writing, and to maintain confidentiality.
10.  A high level of customer service skills with the ability to deal diplomatically, tactfully and sensitively with people in difficult situations.
