Extra Help
If a student needs additional help on assignments, I will be available for tutoring in Room 100 before school (7:15 – 7:50 a.m.), after school (3:55 PM to 4:55 PM- Monday and Thursday), or during second lunch. Other arrangements can be made upon request. Students who have a D or an F after four (2) weeks will be issue a performance contract, requiring them to receive Saturday tutoring one, two, or three times per month, depending upon their grade percentage. Students who are passing the class can come on Monday and Thursday afternoon from 3:55 PM to 4:55 PM for homework help.
Assignments will be evaluated for FULL credit ONLY when they are turned in ON TIME. Late work will be accepted. However, full credit will not be given for late work. Make-up work resulting from absences will be accepted for FULL CREDIT. Please be aware that some activities such as classroom participation cannot be made up.
Tests will be given on a schedule established by the math department. Students will be given one week to make up any tests. The makeup tests may be taken before or after school or at lunchtime.
Class work:In-class assignments will be given on a regular basis. These assignments must be completed and possibly turned in before the end of class.
Bell work: It should be completed in the first five minutes each day.
Notes: Must be taken every day. They are mandatory.
Teacher Observation: The teacher will closely monitor students’ efforts each day. Points will be deducted from students who are warned regularly for being off task.
Attendance:
The Phoenix Union High School District believes that daily participation in classroom instruction activities is essential to earning credit in every course. Students who accumulate a total of 12 excused/unexcused absences in any class may lose credit for the semester. A process will be in force to ensure that parents are notified and interventions will be implemented to support student learning and success.
Tardy Policy:
Academic success is directly correlated to attendance and tardies. There must be consequences for tardies, but also a strong effort by each person in our SMHS community to ensure that students get to class on time.
- Tardy: Students need to be inside the classroom before the tardy bell rings. Students who are late will serve a 2-hour after school tutoring session the same day. Students who do notshow up for AIS serve a full dayof ISS the following school day.
