Post Title:Driver/Caretaker
Location: Head Office, Bromley Cross, Bolton
Directorate:Resources
Terms:Equivalent to NJC Point 10 – 15(£15,613 – £17,072) Salary is based on a 37 hours per week contract however actual hours worked will be arranged to best meet the needs of Birtenshaw.
There will be a requirement to worksome split shifts and Sunday evenings.
Holiday Entitlement:22 days plus 8 public holidays pro rata
Report To:Service Manager: Transport
ROLE
To support Birtenshaw by driving children and young people to identified locations using one of the organisations vehicles
To secure and lock Birtenshaw buildings from time to time following evening or weekend activities
To observe and promote Health and Safety at all times when conveying young people and driving the organisations vehicles
To contribute to the safety of children and young people and protect them from harm
To carry out duties in an appropriate and professional manner
To contribute to the development and maintenance of an environment and ethos where all people are respected and valued as individuals
To adhere to all relevant organisational policies including anti-bullying, anti-racism, health and safety.
To follow the organisation’s Standard of Attire Policy
Key Tasks
To provide a transport service
To secure and lock Birtenshaw buildings from time to time
To hold MiDAS qualification, or obtain it
To keep accurate records of all journeys taken.
To undertake all relevant training for driving as required by the organisations standards and regulations
To safely assist children and young people into/out of vehicles
To adhere to all DVLA Regulations and legal requirements
To complete visual and general checks of all vehicles before and after each journey
To complete all relevant paper work regarding maintenance and safety issues of the vehicles
To ensure Vehicles have fuel and oil and are safely maintained
To ensure Vehicles are kept clean and tidy and to a high standard.

This job outline forms part of the contract of employment of the person appointed to this post. It reflects the position at the present time only and may be changed at the discretion of senior managers in the future.
As a general term of employment, Birtenshaw may affect necessary change in job content, or may require the post-holder to undertake other duties provided that such changes are appropriate to the employee’s remuneration and status.
This post is subject to a minimum probationary period of six months.

Experience of using correct clamping procedures for
securing wheelchairs in the minibuses and in the safe practices for driving the buses. / D / A + I
Previously Midas trained or equivalent or willingness to undertake / E / A + I

Knowledge
