Hymn - Be still, For the Presence of the Lord
1. Be still, for the presence of the Lord, the holy one, is here
Come bow before him now with reverence and fear;
In him no sin is found – we stand on holy ground.
Be still, for the presence of the Lord, the holy one, is here.
2. Be still, for the glory of the Lord is shining all around;
He burns with holy fire, with splendor he is crowned;
How awesome is the sight – our radiant King of light!
Be still, for the glory of the Lord is shining all around.
3. Be still, for the power of the Lord is moving in this place;
He comes to cleanse and heal, to minister his grace –
No work too hard for him, in faith receive from him.
Be still, for the power of the Lord is moving in this place.

Act of - Lighting of the First Advent Candle
Leader: Advent is a time of waiting, of holy expectation for what is to come. It is a time of preparing our hearts and our homes for Christmas joy. Just four weeks from now, we celebrate God revealing what love really is in the person of Jesus.
During Advent we remember the incarnation of Jesus. Born to a young woman who, but for love, would have been an outcast. Born in a barn, God incarnate had a rocky start.
Congregation -We light this candle as a symbol of God’s light shining in the darkness. The Light has come into the world. It shines as brightly now as it did then. The darkness didn’t overcome it then. It never will.
The First Advent Candle is then lit
Congregation sings:
O come, O come, Immanuel
And ransom captive Israel
That mourns in lonely exile here
Until the Son of God appear
Cho: Rejoice! Rejoice! Immanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel
Welcome

Hymn - Lord Jesus we must know you
1. Lord Jesus, we must know you 2. Our broken world is seeking
if we would make you known, what only you can give;
for how can we proclaim you our words may go unheeded,
but by your grace alone? but not the way we live.
We long to know your fulness, O Savior, live within us
your life of risen power, your life so strong, so true
for you alone can answer that others, touched with wonder
the challenge of this hour. may seek and worship you!
3. Lord Jesus, by your Spirit
renew your Church, we pray,
till what we are makes valid
the truth of what we say. .
. So truly may we know you
so make your life our own
that we become so like you
our lives must make you known

Hymn – Hark the glad sound!
1. Hark the glad sound! The Saviour comes, 3. He comes into a darkened world
The Saviour promised long; to be its truth and light,
let every heart prepare a throne, that those whose eyes are closed to God
and every voice a song may yet regain their sight.
2. He comes the prisoners to release 4. He comes to bind the broken heart,
from fear and greed and shame, to comfort the distressed,
each prison wall that evil builds to pour the treasures of his grace
shall fall before his name. on outcast and oppressed.
5. Our glad hosannas, Prince of peace,
your coming shall proclaim;
and heaven’s eternal arches ring
with your belovéd name.
