During the 2016-17 school year the Cherry Creek School district will implement the CCSD Assessment System. This system will act as the District’s internal summative assessment system and serve three purposes:
- Create stability for measuring student, school, and district performance that is independent from changes tothe state assessment system
- Maintain the District’s long-standing recognition of the ACT assessment as the primary measure of College and Career Preparedness and Success
- Extend the measure of College and Career Preparedness and Success into elementary and early middle school grade levels
The CCSD Assessment System will incorporate three vertically aligned assessments—the ACT Aspire Summative, the Pre-ACT and the District ACT. Information for each assessment is described below.
The ACT Aspire Summative is an online assessment designed to measure students’ progress toward College and Career Preparedness and Success over the course of time. The ACT Aspire test battery produces scores that describe students’ projected growth in English, reading, mathematics and science.
For the 2016-17 school year, the assessment will be administered between November and early December to students in grades 4, 6, 7, and 8. Students in grade 9 will teston October 13th. Some features of the test include:
●Results are reported on a 3-digit scaled score
●An ACT Readiness benchmark that can be used to determine if students are on track for readiness at the appropriate grade level and content area (see right)
●A Composite score for students in grades 8-9 who receive scores in English, math, reading and science assessments
Schools will also have the option to administer the ACT Aspire Interim assessment at different time points throughout the year.
The Pre-ACT is a paper/pencil assessment for 10th grade students that predicts performance on the 11th grade ACT. The assessment will be administered on October 13, 2016. Some features of the test include:
●Test questions are similar to ACT
●Provides information about College and Career Preparedness and Success
●Targeted feedback and ability to see questions after test is complete
●Interest inventory is taken as part of the test (see right) to help determine possible good fits of college majors and career choices
The District ACT, like the Colorado ACT,is a college-reportable test that juniors can take at their school. It is a paper/pencil testand will be administered on February 28, 2017.
Some key information of the assessment:
●Subjects assessed will be English, reading, math and science
●A Composite score is provided for all students who receive scores in English, math, reading and science
●Scores and percentile rank will be available for each subject completed
●Interest inventory choices are combined with ACT scores to provide potential matches for college and career planning
