s78 planning appeals
Overall volumes of receipts of s78 planning appeals have decreased 10% for the period April to June 2018 compared to January to March 2018 and are now at the same level as at April to June 2017 (see Table 2.1). The number of appeals received was high in 2017/18 Q3 and Q4 due in part to a large number of “telephone kiosk” appeals. This has had a distorting effect on overall volumes and also numbers received by procedure. It should be noted that unusually high number of appeals were turned away as invalid during 2017/18.
Decisions for s78 planning appeals were 7% lower in the first quarter of 2018/19 compared to the equivalent quarter in 2017/18 (see Table 2.4). The percentage of appeals allowed remains steady at 31%.
