WORLD GEOGRAPHY ABC PICTURE BOOK OF EUROPE

This is your chance to bring Europe to life by representing it in a PICTURE BOOK!!! This is something that gives the reader an overview of what makes Europe such a diverse and interesting place.

USE YOUR TEXTBOOK, NOTES, AND OUTSIDE RESEARCH IF NEEDED.

Your task:

  • Using each letter of the alphabet (yes, that means A-Z!) find a word that goes along with European geography.
  • Along with the word, write a brief description of what the word means, who the person is, or where the place is, etc for EACH LETTER OF THE ALPHABET.. I have given you an example for the last part of the alphabet if we were doing a picture book on Africa. I have picked the hardest part of the alphabet, but you can see that I have come up with words. Some are places, some are things, and some are people. For example… if we were doing a picture book for our last unit Africa, we would put…
  • U=Uganda. Place where child soldiers are being used.
  • V= Virus. Africa is plagued by many viruses including AIDS.
  • W= Water. One of the resources that is fought over and very scarce.
  • X=eXtreme. The climate in Africa has many extremes… from desert to rainforest.
  • Y= Yak. Type of animal that is present on the African savannah and is often seen on wildlife safaris.
  • Z= Zulu. Group of people who live in South Africa and have a culture that is very rich in tradition.
  • Now take all of your information and put it in a picture book that would help someone who has never studied Europe know exactly what the continent is about
  • Be sure to use pictures and make your picture book pleasing and interesting.

What you need to know… the rules!!!!

  1. You must use each letter of the alphabet. For X it is okay to use a word that starts with ex, but for all other letters the word must begin with the letter.
  2. Each word MUST RELATE TO EUROPE!!!! If you can’t relate it to what you will learn about Europe in your description… don’t use it.
  3. No “E is for Europe” or “G” is for Geography.
  4. NO MORE THAN 3 MAJOR CITIES CAN BE USED.
  5. NO MORE THAN 3 COUNTRY NAMES CAN BE USED.
  6. You need a picture for each item
  7. You need a description for each word… this should be at least a sentence. See my examples above. This is the MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE PROJECT… PUT THOUGHT AND DETAIL INTO THIS!!!!
  8. You need a cover page for your book that has a creative title.
  9. Lots of color.
  10. Creativity.
  11. Neatness.

**** USE THE GRID ON THE BACK OF THIS SHEET IF YOU WISH TO MAKE A ROUGH DRAFT OF YOUR IDEAS FOR EACH LETTER… THIS IS A ROUGH OUTLINE, NOT YOUR FINAL PROJECT***
