RULES AND PROCEDURES:

1.Please be seated with all necessary materials when the tardy bell rings. Students not seated at the time of the tardy bell will be counted tardy. Please sign in. Students will be referred to their principal for tardies according to school policy.

2.Six weeks grades are calculated as follows:

MAJOR GRADES (at least 3)=60% of six weeks average

DAILY GRADES(at least 6)=40% of six weeks average

3.Any student who is unsuccessful (grade below 70) on a major assignment will have one reasonable opportunity as determined by the teacher to redo or retake the assignment in order to show mastery of the material. The “redo” or “retake” assignment will be determined by the teacher and may not be the exact same assignment that was initially assigned, but rather a variation of the initial assignment that will allow the student to show mastery of the content. All “redo” or “retake” opportunities must be completed in a timely manner as determined by the teacher with all grades completed and recorded by the end of the six weeks. Each student will have a maximum of five (5) school days to “redo” or “retake” the assignment from the day that they were notified of the grade.

Students who receive a grade deduction or a zero on an assignment due to the student code of conduct are not eligible for the “redo” or the “retake” opportunity.

Late assignments will receive a maximum grade of 70 if completed and turned in before the material is tested. After the test the maximum grade will be 50 until the end of the grading period.

4.Students who have not had an opportunity to improve their grade because of the above policy will be given an opportunity each six weeks to replace their lowest test grade with a cumulative test.

5.Parent and students should check Gradespeed and teacher websites often for grades, updated calendars and upcoming assignments and tests. These may be accessed through the Klein ISD website.

6.Tests will be a combination of objective and essay questions. Test days for Social Studies are Mondays and Wednesdays. If tests are scheduled for any day other than these, the students will be notified well in advance.

7.Students may opt out of receiving a traditional textbook and use the online textbook provided by the publisher. Please log on to tx.gov.glencoe.com to access the textbook. Any problems with the website does not excuse a student from any assignment.

9.MAKE-UP work will follow district policy as outlined in the Student Handbook.

10.Students are expected to know and follow all rules and procedures as outlined in the Student Handbook.

11.Mutual respect is expected between all class members, including the teacher! Please show others the same courtesy you expect for yourself.
