You ask where Shattuc, Illinois? Most people wonder the same thing. And how does a place produce a future talent like this up and coming star? Jeff Diekemper is one of these guys on the move.

Jeff, 23, has only been playing for four years. Yes, four years. Bored one day at college during his sophomore year at Kaskaskia College in Centralia, IL, Jeff stumbled onto his new found passion – pool. He was looking to kill some time, so he went to check out the pool hall. Without a blink of an eye, Jeff found himself in tournaments local and abroad, looking to gain valuable experience. When on summer breaks, he joined the local leagues playing eight ball and 3-5-8 Bank pool. He transferred to Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio to pursue his bio-mechanical engineering degree. Little did he know that this transfer would also elevate his pool game? The level of competition in the Dayton area tournaments helped Jeff’s development. Playing against the likes of Jason Miller (Derby City Classic multi-time Banks winner) and others demonstrated to Jeff what it took to get to the next level. Not only playing at school, but the hours of play at home in the local bars, especially Shorty’s in Albers, IL showed him the dedication it takes to continue this elevation to the top of the mountain.

Jeff has done well in his career. He has multi tournament wins, including his recent taking of the Gateway Tour in February, 2007. He has finished second in the Joe Santel Memorial tournament held annually in September. He has placed in the money on the Midwest 9 Ball tour as well. He looks to join the Gateway Tour full time in 2008.

“It doesn’t matter who you are or where you are from, it is how you play the game. It is about precision, consistence, mental approach that makes the player” Jeff believes. He credits Greg Noud for teaching him the basics. Jeff describes Greg as an early mentor. Now the level has turned to Mark Wilson. Jeff is under his guidance for now to get him closer to the top of that mountain.

Look for Jeff at a Tournament near you…

By the way, challenge him to a game of Golden Tee.
