PRE-ADVISING
Admission / Transcripts
Apply to the University through the Admissions Office ( and pay your application fee.
Submit all officialtranscripts to the University of Arkansas Office of Admission.
-Students transferring less than 24 hours will also need to submit High School transcripts as well as
all ACT/SAT scores and will need to attend New Student Orientation in June: http//orientation.uark.edu
Students transferring less than 24 hours should not make an individual advising appointment.
-Students transferring 24 or more hours can be automatically admitted with a transfer gpa of 2.00 or higher. Completion of Online Orientation will satisfy the orientation requirement.
Please note that it could take up to 2-3 weeks from the time you apply and submit all your transcripts until you are ready for academic advising.
Activate E-mail ID
Each University of Arkansas student is assigned a University e-mail account when he/she is admitted. You may activate your email account online by going to the following website and following the instructions given: Click on Activate to complete the process. For assistance, you may go to the Arkansas UnionComputing Lab or call 479-575-2905.
Holds and Enrollment Dates
When you receive your Letter of Admission, it will take approximately 24-48 hours to be term activated with an advising hold and with an enrollment date. Using your email account, login to UAConnect. On the right side of the page is a column containing Holds, To-Do List, Enrollment Dates, and Advisor.
The Holds box will indicate any holds you may have (i.e.: Advising, Immunization, etc).
Advising Holds can only be removed once you have officially been advised (see below).
Immunization holds can only be removed by the Pat Walker Health Center (479-575-7723).

Pre-registration holds can be removed by you. This is your term Financial Agreement found in the ‘To-Do’ box
in your Student Center. Click the hyperlink for the Financial Agreement and follow the instructions. This
will need to be completed each semester.
Enrollment Appointment Dates indicates when you are eligible to register for classes. If you do not see a date in this box, you should contact the Admissions and/or Registrar’s Office to make sure you have completed all the necessary steps forterm activation.
Check Transfer Credit Status / Complete Orientation
Logon to UAConnectand go to Student Center. Under Academics, click on the drop-down Other Academic… box and select View UA Transfer Credit. Transfer work must be posted before scheduling an advising appointment.Also, make sure that you complete online orientation.
Academic Advising
Think you’re ready for advising? The following steps will let you know:
1Make sure you have been completely admitted to the UofA and that you have indicated your intention to matriculate ( You will need to send official copies of all transcripts to the UA at the time of application. If you are currently taking courses, final transcripts will need to be resent to the UA once all grades are posted.
2Make sure all your completed transfer work has been posted to your UAConnect student center ( click "Other Academic" and scroll down to "Course History")
3Make sure your immunization records have been turned in to the Pat Walker Health Center (fax: 479-575-7789).
4Make sure you remove the Pre-Registration Hold by completing the Summer/Fall Financial Agreement in your ‘To-Do’ list on your Student Center in UAConnect
5Call 479-575-7121 to begin the advising pre-screening.
6Once an appointment is scheduled, bring or have a copy of your current transcript if you took courses this current or previous semester.
7Skype appointments are available.You musthave a strong Internet connection. Also, you need to be on a desktop or laptop. We cannot Skype via mobile devices.
ADVISING
How to prepare for your Advising Appointment
1)Make a list of questions and concerns that you would like to cover during your advising appointment.
2) Print a copy of your degree check-list from the Fulbright Transfer Central website and check off the courses you have already taken.
3) Prepare a list of classes you would like to take for the upcoming semester.
4)Make sure you arrive on campus early enough to find parking and make it to your appointment. Parking is not convenient and can take a while to find. If you are more than 10 minutes late, you will be required to reschedule your appointment.

University Student ID Card
All students at the University of Arkansas are required to have a Student ID Card. This card is necessary for numerous purposes: to check-out library books; to gain access to some campus facilities, such as residence and dining halls, the HPER building, and some computer labs; to purchase tickets to athletic events; and to take some exams. In order to be photographed for your ID card, please go to the Campus Card Office in427 Arkansas Union. The fee for your card is included in your tuition and fee bill. Additional Tasks
Parking Permit–All students planning to park on campus must purchase and display a valid parking permit. The Transit and Parking Office is located in the Administrative Services Building on Razorback Road across from Bud Walton Arena. For more information, call 479-575-7275or go to parking.uark.edu.
Books–You may choose to purchase your books at the University Bookstore located in Garland Center, 616 N. Garland, across from the NW Quads and Pat Walker Health Center. Call 479-575-2155 or visit information.
Tuition–The Student Accounts Office is located on the 2nd floor of the Union in room 213. You can find the deadline for payment (or make arrangements for installment payments) by calling 479-575-5651. You also can find information on paying tuition on the web at
Other Resources:
Catalog of Studies – utilize your catalog of studies as your official guide to graduation requirements, degree program requirements, department contacts, etc.
Fulbright College Transfer Central – find information about majors and minors within Fulbright College; get a copy of your unofficial major check-sheet; etc.
Petitioning Transfer Credit – complete the petition form to have transfer work re-evaluated for equivalencies with UA courses. For more information, contact the Registrar’s Office. You can also find a link transfer equivalency guided from Outside Institutions to determine if/how a course will transfer to the UA.
