Sales and Information Associate
Department: Bookstores, Bear Valley, and Ken Patrick Visitor Center (Drakes Beach)*
Repots to: Bookstore Manager Classification: Regular, Part-time/Saturdays and Sundays

Point Reyes National Seashore Association (PRNSA) is the primary nonprofit partner of the National Park Service at Point Reyes. We work in partnership with the National Park Service to preserve and maintain wildlife habitats, trails and historic sites in this beautiful and unique park. Our year-round environmental education programs help children and adults deepen their understanding of nature and inspire the next generation of park stewards.
SUMMARY
The Bookstore Sales and Information Associate plays an important role in ensuring visitors have a great experience at Point Reyes. The associate will perform a variety of clerical and customer service related tasks associated with the stocking, merchandising and sale of products at the visitor centers. Sales and Information Associates also greet and interact with visitors, providing support to the NPS Interpretive staff when necessary.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS
Open PRNSA sales desk register at beginning of day, which includes opening safe, removing cash drawer, counting out cash drawer, placing in PRNSA register. Close PRNSA sales desk register at end of day, filling out daily sales reports, placing cash drawer and deposit in safe.
Restock Bookstore, including all books and gift items. Refolding entire apparel stacks daily. Restock all Supplies; i.e. bags, register/credit card tape. Straighten displays, and general merchandising of all products.
Receive freight and process orders.
Maintain an organized and ordered stockroom, closets, cupboards, drawers, all back stock areas, including floor space. Remember to keep all like items together for ease of use, label all unmarked boxes, and strategize the most effective use of space.
Monitor Inventory: maintain on an "Inventory Supply List" sheet--- accurate lists of needed items.
Maintain a clean ordered Bookstore (dust all surfaces, vacuum/sweep). This is an ongoing daily task. It
is imperative to straighten, refold, restock Bookstore at closing.
Greet and welcome visitors. Be available and accessible for visitors' questions. Remember however, that the primary responsibility is to run the register and maintain a well-stocked, ordered sales floor.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand for long periods, operate a Point of Sale cash register, and perform repetitive motions (such as applying price tag stickers). The employee must feel comfortable occasionally bending to pick up items from the floor, and reaching for items on high shelves using a step stool. The employee may also be required to load items into their car and transport between store locations. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move boxes up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but can become noisy when the visitor center is busy.
Salary and Benefits: The hourly rate for this position depends on experience.
