Human personality can be classified using a double trigram system of two interacting octahedral from the I Ching. First, from the Heaven trigram, Eldest Son Yang would be adjustment, opposed to failure to adjust and rigidity in Eldest Daughter Yin, Middle Son Yang would be health and wholesomeness opposed to Middle Daughter Yin Neurosis and fragmentation. Youngest Son Yang would be creativity opposed to conformity in Youngest Daughter Yin.
The healthy person could be described on the three dimensions of the Earth Trigram where Eldest Daughter Yin would represent consistent rule following behavior and Eldest Son Yang its rule breaking inconsistent opposite. Middle Daughter Yin would be the extrovert and Middle Son would be the introverted, internal focus, opposite. Youngest Daughter Yin would be being agreeable and friendly and Youngest Son Yang would be its isolating and fussy opposite.
The neurotic octahedron could distribute the personality disorders around a tetrahedron formed by Flame Trigram as Freudian Anal Stage Expulsion and Wind Trigram as Anal Stage Retention, Earth Trigram as Oral Fixation and Lake Trigram as the Phallic Stage. Mountain Trigram could be the negativistic opposite of Phallic romantic union and Water Pit Abysm the depressed opposite of Flame Anal Elimination. Thunder could be the Bipolar opposite of Wind and Anal Retention, and Heaven the Schizophrenic opposite of Oral Reality.
The oral area of Earth Trigram would begin with dependence in its boundary with Water Pit and histrionics in it boundary with Thunder, becoming Narcissistic in its boundary with Mountain, transiting to the Anal Retention of Wind, it would be compulsive in respect to Water Pit Abysm and schizoid in respect to Heaven and paranoid in respect to Mountain. Transiting to Anal Expulsion in Flame, it would be schizotypal in respect to Heaven, sadistic in respect to Mountain, and Antisocial in respect to Thunder. Transition to Phallic Water, it would be borderline in respect to Thunder, and become masochistic and depressed in Water Pit, finally surrendering to the Super Ego and avoidance in Heaven Trigram fear of infinite repression.
The source of extroversion in Middle Daughter Yin is communication with the factual world in the Left Hemisphere cerebrum and the source of introversion in Middle Daughter Yang is the dreamworld integration of the Right Hemisphere mythological meaning. The source of agreement and the dependence in Youngest Daughter Yin is the association areas of the posterior cerebral cortex, including verbal understanding in the temporal lobes. The source of individual isolation in Youngest Son Yang is the planning and executive function of the anterior cerebrum, the executive areas of the frontal lobes. The source of the fixed area that is Eldest Daughter is the cerebral cortex itself and its relationship with memory in the hippocampus and skill formation in the basal ganglia and cerebellum. The source of fluidity in the Eldest Son is the limbic areas and thalamus and hypothalamus and connection with the amygdale and attention regulating areas in the lower brain and neurotransmitter regulation in the ventral tegmentum. A healthy brain is balanced and integrated and an unhealthy brain is dissociated and fails to integrate, becames stuck is dysfunctional behavior complexes.
