2015-2016 CDMS/LMS Musical

High School Musical, Jr.

Informational Meeting, Thursday, October 15, 2015 6:30 p.m.

·  Welcome and Introduction of Musical Staff

·  High School Musical, Jr. - When the captain of the basketball team and an academically bright bookworm accidentally discover they share a passion for singing, the two teens decide to try out for their High School Musical. But their out-of-character audition severely shakes up the status quo amongst their clique-conscious peers.

·  Dates

o  Performance Dates: Thursday, March 10 at 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 11 at 7:00 p.m., and Saturday, March 12 at 3:00 and 7:00 p.m.

o  Auditions Dates: Monday, October 19 (CDMS Students), Tuesday, October 20 (LMS Students), Thursday, October 22 (CDMS Students), Monday, October 26 (LMS Students), and Tuesday, October 27 if needed

o  Call Back Date: Wednesday, October 28

·  Auditions

o  Auditions will consist of Dialogue, Music and Dance

o  The Audition dialogue, song and dance (YouTube video) will be available on our school’s website (www.cdschools.org – do the pull down for CDMS or LMS and click music then theater). Please learn the dance and study the dialogue and song before auditions.

o  The cast will be selected based on the performances at auditions, not the years of training they have had or past musical experience.

o  Cast list will be posted on Friday, October 30

o  Leading roles will be double casted with 2 performances by each cast.

o  Leads will sing in the chorus on their “off” nights.

o  There will be several groups needed (i.e. cheerleaders, jocks, etc.) and these groups will be chosen based on performances and behavior during rehearsals.

o  Tech and stage crews will also be needed. Those interested will need to fill out an application. Crews will be selected by staff based on those forms sometime closer to the New Year.

·  Rehearsals & Expectations

o  LMS students will take the shuttle bus that leaves from LMS at the end of the day to CDMS

o  The late bus will run after rehearsal from CDMS. Any student who doesn’t have a ride at the time the late bus departs (4:45 p.m.) will be sent home on the late bus…no exceptions!

o  Any important information will be announced and posted on our website (see reference above.) Please make it a habit to check that website every day for any updates (i.e. rehearsal cancellations or additions)

o  All rehearsals are required 2 weeks before the show.

o  If a student is missing practice due to some unavoidable circumstance, please send a note with your student to be presented to Mrs. Pearson at the beginning of the rehearsal the day before the absence or early dismissal.

o  Students in the musical must maintain good grades and not appear on the ineligibility list.

o  If a family trip/vacation is scheduled for the week before the show, the student should not audition.
