Meeting Minutes

Attendance:John Mezaros, Erik Miller, Steve Dressman, Tony Bell, Brian Hastings, Lauren Senderoff

As required by the Stow YES Softball Bylaws, a regular organizational meeting was held in Stow. The meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm. Items discussed and actions taken were as follows:

  1. Proposed Board Positions for 2017
  • President – Steve Dressman
  • Vice President – Erik Miller
  • Treasurer – Ron Edmondson
  • Secretary - Tony Bell
  • A League Commissioner – Jon Meszaros
  • B League Commissioner – Brian Hastings
  • C League Commissioner – Open
  • I League Commissioner – Lauren Senderoff
  • Umpire in Chief – OPEN – Jayme has resigned
  • Spirit Day Chairperson – Brian Lynner
  • Equipment Manager – Open
  • July 4th Parade Chair – Kelly Leacoma
  • Sponsorship Drive Chair – Open
  • Need to add open positions to the website and Facebook
  • Need to add that we are looking for umpires (Call Steve) to website and Facebook
  1. Financial updates – August and September Financials are complete – ended just above $5,000 for the year
  2. 2017 Budget preparation – Ron to complete the budget for this year
  3. Remove Starkey from bank signature card & add Erik – Erik has the storage unit key
  4. League fees for 2017 – raise or keep at 2016 level
  5. Changing A, B & C fees to $105 – A league will get pants
  6. Community League team costs will go from $75 to $100
  7. Lottery Fundraiser:
  8. Ron will be running the Lottery Fundraiser
  9. Incentives help with kids selling the tickets
  10. The Loyalist Spirit-wear Fundraiser:

  12. Registration dates for 2017 – set – will need volunteers
  13. January 14 – 10a to 2p

  16. Tony to send out a schedule for sign ups
  17. Marketing 2017 registration dates – new signs
  18. New signs with revised copy
  19. No Stow Sentry ads – Blurbs only
  20. Update forms for 2017:

  23. Need new flyers for Holy Family – Full page
  24. Stow YES Night at the Racers - Brian Lynner
  25. Stow YES gets 50% of the ticket price rebated back to the organization
  26. Need to promote this better
  27. Flyer to distribute at picture day – Steve to send Tony the details on how to do this
  28. Establish start date of season, year-end tournament, All Star Games, Picture Day, Spirit Day
  29. Season starts May 1st
  30. Steve will get Picture Day set up – Targeting May 6th
  31. Spirit Day – June 3rd
  32. Season End Tournament begins June 22nd through the 25th
  33. All-Star games June 26th and 27th
  34. Return of 2016 League forms – Lynner
  35. Steve will get these forms from Brian
  36. Equipment maintenance –Gravely needs maintenance
  37. Field updates:
  38. Rebuilding backstop wall
  39. Adding Limestone to the warning track
  40. Umpire equipment return
  41. Steve will work with Jayme to get the equipment
  42. 2017 Rule Changes – propose all fields be equipped with a safety 1st base to mirror high school rule change for 2017
  43. Ohio Fever updates
  44. 12U practicing all Fall (Steve Gallager – Coach)
  45. 14U will not practice until January (One deposit down) (Mark Cook and Pam Rumler Coaches)
  46. Don’t need to buy new uniforms as long as the uniforms fit and numbers work out (logo moved onto the arm)
  47. Both teams signed up for Pinnacle
  48. 16U has 10 players and finished playing in Strasburg
  49. Pitching clinic – Erik
  50. 3 pitching clinics with Mandy in December and 3 in January
  51. Dates will be on the website this week
  52. 1st come 1st serve (we will balance the age groups)
  53. Website updates – Erik
  54. We pay $250 a year for the website
  55. High School Softball team is using our site to host scheduling and communication
  56. Scholarship – Tony
  57. Emailed Tammy Sedorfor new scholarship contact
  58. Western Reserve Softball merger update
  59. Mike Smith is looking to merge CVEL, SPL, Akron Rubber City and Stow YES to form the Western Reserve Softball organization
  60. Reason: to grow the program and model it after Emerald Necklace allowing everyone to balance the competition and provide a competitive experience for all
  61. I League will not change at all
  62. A League – Not Sure
  63. B League and C League: Willing to look at it, but concerned distance of games.
  64. Biggest issues: Geography, Rec vs. Travel
  65. Meeting next Sunday at Barlow
