Overall, the vote totals file was significantly different from the 2010 Census Voting District file. In many cases, the former listed polling places while the latter listed the names of voting districts. While we followed up with dozens of county officials, the file is far from perfect. We had to sum precincts in a number of counties.

The Arkansas Voting District file contains 2,784 observations, compared with 2,310 in the 2010 vote total file, 2,120 in the 2008 vote file, 2,205 in the 2006 vote total file and 2,315 in the 2004 file.

- geo_id 550 and 534 Tyronza combined polling place as vote_id 515 Tyronza/Twist. geo_id 547 Coldwater does not have an identifiable vote_id. Per county clerk – Coldwater votes at Twist. v515 split to v515a Twist (g550), v515b Tyronza (g534) and v515c Coldwater (g547).

Dallas County – DONE.

Desha County – DONE.

Called county clerk. All geo lines match with vote lines.

- One vote line – v543 Mitchellville City Hall (111 votes) does not have a geo match. Per clerk, Mitchellville is on the north side of Dumas. Need to decide what to do with Mitchellville votes.

- v550 Reed City matches g574 Reed City and g580 Tillar City. Split to v550a/b respectively.

Drew County - DONE

- vote_ids 552-555 Wards 1/2/3/4 assigned to geo_ids 592-599 Monticello Wards 1-4. VAP and governor turnout appear consistent.

- geo_ids 598/588 Willmar City/Willmar Rural have only one corresponding vote_id 567 Wilmar (note spelling difference also). vote_id 567 split to v567a/b.

- early and absentee votes (vote_id 570/569) unassigned.

Faulkner County - DONE

- vote_id 571-586 unnamed precinct numbers) assigned to matching Conway precincts. VAP and turnout consistent.

- geo_id 625 Briston and vote_id 589 Bristol have different spellings but appear to be a match.

- vote_id 608 No. Mountain and 611 So. Mountain match geo_id 636 Mountain. Combined to v611a.

- vote_id 604 Hendrix and – vote_id 612 Uca (72 and 69 votes respectively) have no geo file match. These are college campuses with students voting (registered to vote in Faulkner county). Prob need GIS or Google match to best census line.

Franklin County - DONE

- General comment: NAME10 in geo file is all district/precinct numbers. They correspond with Polling place identifiers in vote file. All vote and geo_ids matched.

Fulton County - DONE

- geo_id 676 Benton and 680 Union appear to have been combined in vote_id 650 Bentonunion. v650 split to v650a/b.

- geo_id 677 Big Creek and 684 Vidette Bayou combined in vote_id 659 Videttebig Creek. Vote_id 659 split to v659a/b.
