Job Title:Extra Care Catering Manager

Responsible to:Housing Manager

Responsible for:Chefs andCatering Assistants

Job Purpose

  • To develop the delivery of the catering services within the Extra Care Schemes providing a range of food options
  • To provide line management to catering staff
  • To ensure catering services are of a high quality and in line with health and safety and regulatory requirements
Accountabilities

Staff and resource management

  • To manage staff and provide effective feedback and support as necessary to ensure they are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to carry out their jobs, and implement the Association’s Performance Development system.
  • Management of the catering staff resource to ensure a high level of service to customers is maintained at all times
  • To be responsible for the negotiation and management the food supply to ensure the required standard of service is maintained
  • To be responsible for the menu creation to ensure choice, nutritional needs are met and special diets are catered for.

Financial

  • To assist in establishing the forecasting of costs in accordance with financial control/audit requirements.

Kitchen and restaurant management

  • To be responsible for the day to day management of the catering facility ensuring required checks and inspections are undertaken in line with Food Hygiene and Health and Safety requirements.
  • To ensure the cateringfacility is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness.

Resident liaison/support

  • To ensure effective consultation with residents enabling their participation in all matters which affect them
  • To respond to all resident enquiries promptly
  • To liaise with colleagues on all matters effecting the wellbeing of residents

Client Liaison

  • To liaise with and develop client relationships providing high levels of customer excellence

Monitoring of the service

  • To review the standard and delivery of the catering services

Quality control

  • To ensure all aspects of the catering service undertaken to the required standard

General

Your responsibilities are pursuant with the expressed contractual terms illustrated in the Staff Handbook together with other Policies and Procedures published by the Association, which are amended from time to time.

In addition to the specified Job Purpose and Accountabilities all staff are expected:

Knowledge/Skills/Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience of staff supervision/line management or team leadership
  • Ability to work effectively in partnership with other agencies
  • To be able to work under their own initiative
  • Car user, valid driving license, provision of own vehicle
  • Skills and experience to undertake the role and accountabilities as set out above and behaviours which demonstrate the WWH values
  • A minimum qualification NVQ Level 2 or 706/2 in Catering and Food Hygiene Certificate

Desirable

  • Experience of working with older people within a Housing or Care environment
  • Ability to speak Welsh/other languages
