Brandley Ngcobo

1st Group President of Wowo’s Club (Office Years 1999 – 2004)

The 1st Group President of Wowo’s Club, Brandley Ngcobo, celebrates his birthday today! Anyone knows where he is? Let’s look back at some of the comments he has made over the years:

I love the way you keep re-inventing yourself and the things you do to keep people interested. I am very proud to have been voted President of this group. I honour this challenge and will take the responsibility with both hands.

Brandley (The President).

Let us come up with incentives to keep people interested. It is not enough to just let the chairman do all the work. We are all worker bees including my self.

Brandley (President, Executive Member and Most Active Member in the Wowo’s Year Awards).

A successful leader in any profession or position will work himself out of a job to allow for a replacement. He will ensure that the replacement is capable. Take the likes of the great Madiba, when he stepped down as president to let another capable delegate lead. This can apply to our daily jobs I believe they call it succession planning. I believe in this passionately.

I do not like this kind of speak. Xhosa's this, Sotho's that, Zulu's this. When are we going to stop and realise that as much as we would like to preserve cultures it doesn't work. We need to start a new culture that encompasses all these races and the speak should be South African as to the dialects of languages that we speak, that will be our new found culture.

Be a member not a number. Meneer big ups to you. I visited the website and I was reading through the speeches, my gosh has it been that long. Time sure does fly when you are having fun. Just reading through those speeches brought back fond memories of how far the group has come. Meneer do you realise the role that you have played and that you will continue to play for a very longtime to come.

This is a very said case of political power. Wars are wars and they have to be fought, but there are better ways to fight and actually win without compromising the lives of innocent women and children. Women and children are always the first casualties of war.

It is ever said I have no words except that I think the world in general could have done a whole lot more to avert the situation. Nevertheless we can only render our support to the victims and their families.

My philosophy is if I get married and we fight there is no way I am going to sleep on the sofa just because we fought. Hell no! even if we fight I will still hold your hand in public that way you won't wonder off just because we fought. If you want to leave and are honest about it I will not stand in your way.

People should be free to have and voice an opinion if not they should have the freedom to keep their mouths shut without being subjected to such atrocities as suspension.

Brandley (Executive Member) not happy with the suspension clause of the group.

It is amazing how situations and circumstances can change the way we think, the way we feel and most importantly our attitude towards everything that happens to and around us.

Brandley(Group President and Executive Member) commenting on Hansie Cronje’s death.

Very few people actually take the time and step to doing something. You have gone beyond that. Not only did you start something but you have kept it going for so long. That to me is passion and will power. You have brought people together, you got them talking, you got them to meet at some stage and you tried to couple them at some detour of this journey. You have taught people to laugh, to think and to speak their minds. You have made them enjoy the little that they do and give to this group. You have moulded and grown this group to what it is today. Meneer, all I want to say today is thank you. Thank you for being you. Thank you for being there. Thank you for caring. Thank you for all your time, contribution and effort. May you be blessed beyond this day and may the rest of your days be filled with as much joy as you have given. Happy Birthday xhego. Yours in service.

Brandley (The President) – E-mail sent to the Chairman on his birthday.

The chairman had no right whatsoever in phoning Nhlanhla to take this issue offline. Put things out in the open and let us discuss it there. Nhlanhla you have every right to be upset.

Brandley Ngcobo (Group President, Former Gauteng Governor, Royal Member, Most Improved Member in the Wowo’s Year 2002 Awards, Best Member in the Wowo’s Year 2003 2nd Awards).

Did you have to call her to tell her that you were dissapointed. Could you not use the platform. Keep it within the platform. A phone call seems to me to be more for a personal attack. Infringing on my right to privacy when I am at home. Why call me at home to reprrimand me about something that I said to the group. Who are you Mr. Chairman to be impressed or disspaointed by what otther people ask and go out of your way to qustion it in private? Aren't we free in this group to voice whatever we feel and think and if someone takes offence they will say and we shall apologise and carry on.

I come a long way with Wonga probably not as long as you but the little time that I have spent with him, he has taught me a lot about myself in general. I admire him, I admire the things that he does and the way that he does them. I respect him and your entire family which I had a pleasure to meet when I visisted your family in PE.

We are so conditioned, to scream and shout the loudest with no action to back things up, and my brother I am sorry to say this but this is exactly what you are doing right now. I have not insulted any black man or women infact I understand far much better where this complacency is coming from because I am also black. You on the other hand are getting very immotional and using words that are uncalled for

Fighting and arguing are to different things. We argue to defend our points of view. These arguments are so passionate that they might be construed as a battle of fists and brawn. What is a constitution without debate? What is democracy without opposition. I love this group, therefore I will reserve my right to defend my views so rigorously unless absolutely necessary. I have opted to lead from behind. I will rather use my voting powers to support or decline a cause. Having said that, I support the 100 points for all the beautiful and talented women and mothers of this club.

You know I am actually very tired of having to chase people up about what they know they should do. This was Thokozile's idea and now she opts not to come now whatever the reason it works against you girl. Mr. chairman I say let us just pitch up whoever graces us with their presence we enjoy the company. We will not always get everyone 100% of the time after all it is a choice of where one chooses to be on this day. As disappointed as I am over this I am looking forward to meeting other members.

There are leaders and there are followers. Mr. Ditaba is by far a leader. He gets an idea, plans it carefully but very importantly actions it and even more importantly he realizes his achievements and uses them to self talk (motivate) and promote himself.

This special thank you goes out to you on behalf of wowo.

Once again what are you a leader or a follower a challenge to all members for a passion in this club and action it to promote the club.

"I still love this group & reasons for leaving are very much personal, they have nothing to do with the group"

My most humble greetings to you sir Mr. Chairman. The most honourable. I could not help but comment on some of your statements. Yes I agree with you we are still a much divided country worse even so that the divide is no longer about colour and race but about possessions and money. The richer distance themselves even further from the general public and they become even more selfish and not wanting to share. The poor disappear even further onto their humble abodes.

Brandley Ngcobo (Ex-President).

Death is inevitable it is part of life all we have is memories. Remember how she lived and let those memories flourish and see the pain lessen. From a brother to a brother, strength be onto to you and your family.

Brandley Ngcobo (Ex-Group President) referring to Johannes’s loss of his sister.

It is not over till its over. You will not read in history that Pirates were the champs for nine months, what you will read is that Chiefs won the league in 2005. This is just like the story of the rabbit and the tortoise. The end result is that perseverance, determination, character and planning (strategy) will always get results, speed often kills.

Dit was nou, die plek. James Park (JCI) was like a home from home. We had some of the best days there. The Sunday braais, the smell of peanut butter from the nearby factory, the running in the morning for the train. The sleeping in the train and missing your stop. Hahaha you still remember the joke. You caught a train from JHB to Homelake and you fell asleep, the train got to Randfontein and turned back to JHB and you woke up in JHB and thought you never left. Hahaha. That was classic. I still remember the people, Johannes, Pepsi, Patrick, Peter Maluleke, Sibongile, Abigail, Mathuto, Fran, Mpume, Mathew, John. Anyway, these are just some beautiful memories.
