Development Manager

  • During this period I managed the Business Intelligence (BIS) & Balanced Scorecard (BSC) software development groups at Oracle IDC, Hyderabad. Responsibilities included people management, project management, estimation, delivery, design, development and testing.
  • Designed and developed the uptake of the new Desktop Integration products, primarily Web ADI.
  • Managed both BIS & BSC through the pivotal R12 release cycle and four subsequent Roll Up Patches (R12.0.1 to R12.0.4).
  • In parallel to the R12 releases I also managed the 11i based code line and RUPs on that line.
  • I managed the uptake of two E-Business Suite ATG RUPs on the 11i Code Line during this period. An ATG RUP is a core technology component code drop that impacts all aspects of BIS & BSC code lines and requires an extensive certification & bug fixing cycle.

QA Manager

  • During this time I was also asked to manage the BIS & BSC QA Teams. My responsibilities included people management, project management, test estimation, test execution, automation, performance testing.
  • I am responsible for the transition of the BIS & BSC QA team from a simple functional testing group to a full lifecycle testing team with focus on White Box, Functional & Performance Testing.
Aug 2002 – Oct 2004: Applabs TechnologiesFxLabs Studios*

Manager, Technical Services

  • Managed the Software Development Group at Applabs Technologies. Responsibilities included people management, project management, client interaction, estimation, proposals, delivery, and process implementation.
  • Designed & Developed the Corporate BondTicker platform for MarketAxess.
  • Managed the Development of Newton, the next generation LIMS from Innaphase – See news items about Newton.
  • Was responsible for the Applabs Technologies Software Development group’s march to CMM level 5 Assessment in September 2003.
  • Setup and manage the Game Development Group at FxLabs Studios. Responsibilities include people management, project management, client interaction, estimation, proposals, delivery, design, development and testing.
  • Setup, develop and foster the Applabs Performance Test Practice (APTP), a new service offering from Applabs Technologies. The APTP was a strategic initiative for 2004 and I was responsible for conceptualization, design & implementation of the entire initiative.
April 1998 – July 2002: LearningByte International & DigitalThink Inc **

Project Manager (2001 – 2002) – DigitalThink

  • Managed the development and implementation of DigitalThink’s e-Learning products including their Web based Content Management System, Hosted Learning Communities and Desktop Content Authoring tools.
  • Rescue mode Project Management for projects in trouble.
  • Built the Quality Engineering (Technology) team at DigitalThink India. Helped the team understand, design and implement processes for testing web based and desktop software. Helped build proficiency in white box and load testing. Helped the team mature their relationship with development teams and management.

Project Manager (2000 – 2001) – LearningByte International

  • Managed the software development team at LearningByte. Managed the development, implementation and support of four generations of LearningByte’s technology products for elearning.
  • Helped train and support LearningByte’s elearning course production teams across three locations (Hyderabad, Bangalore & Minneapolis)
  • Helped other domains (Instructional Design, Visual Design, Production etc) understand and use the technology we had built

Project Leader (1998 – 1999) – LearningByte International

  • Designed and built LearningByte’s first generation Software Simulation courses.
  • Designed and built LearningByte’s content authoring software called LearningByte Builder (LBB).

Career Highlights

  • 1998 – 2000: Conceived, Designed, Developed & Operationalized LearningByte’s Desktop Content Authoring System, LBB, – a product that cut production time and cost by 75%.
  • 2001 – 2002: Built & Trained DigitalThink’s Quality Engineering team from the ground up and equipped them with the knowledge, skills & tools required to be a full lifecycle QE team participating in White Box, Functional & Performance Testing for a broad range of products spanning the desktop & the web.
  • 2002 – 2003: Implemented CMM processes within the Applabs Software Development team and finally achieved a CMM Level 5 Assessment in Sept 2003. I was the manager in charge of the entire development side of this exercise. Designed & developed Corporate BondTicker for MarketAxess & managed the development of Newton, the Next Gen LIMS for Innaphase.
  • 2003 – 2004: Built the Game Development Team at FxLabs Studios and trained them to deliver games on multiple platforms including J2ME, Qualcomm BREW, PC & Xbox.
  • 2003 – 2004: Conceived, Designed, Developed & Operationalized Applabs Performance Test Practice (APTP), a new Performance Test Service offering from Applabs Technologies. This culminated in a presentation at the QAI’s International Software Testing Conference at Pune in Feb 2004.
  • 2005 – 2007: Trained & motivated the EBS Business Intelligence QA Team to be a full lifecycle QA team delivering solutions ranging from White Box and Functional to Performance testing.
  • 2005 – 2007: Delivered the pivotal R12 release for Oracle Business Intelligence, BIS & BSC.
  • 2007 – 2009: Streamlined the Project Management of multiple product lines for E-Business Suite’s Application Technology Group (EBS ATG), across parallel release cycles spanning multiple code lines (11i, R12, R12.1 etc)
  • 2007 – 2009: Conceived, Designed, Developed & Operationalized White Box & Performance Testing of core Technology components from the EBS ATG Product line. This includes the new Integrated SOA Gateway, AOL & E-Business Suite Access Gate.
