JOB DESCRIPTION
POST TITLE: / Employment Support WorkerRESPONSIBLE TO: / Adult Services Manager
HOURS OF WORK: / 22.5 hours per week
Salary / £10.46 per hour
MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
- Provide one-to-one support to clients to assist them in overcoming their barriers to employment and gaining sustainable employment, which will include making referrals to appropriate organisations,
- Interview clients one to one or in small groups
- Conduct initial and ongoing assessment of clients’ vocational needs; implementing and adjusting work-based plans as necessary to support achievement of work and learning outcomes.
- Develop and deliver a range of practical services to meet clients’ needs including career guidance, CV preparation, individual coping techniques or work coaching, and practical assistance in seeking and securing work/learning
- Assist clients to draw up action plans for employment, education and training and supporting them to achieve these goals
- Develop a thorough understanding of the accessibility and quality of services available to unemployed people, liaising with existing project partners and identifying new potential project partners.
- Promote the Employment Support Project to clients, partner agencies and employers – establishing referral routes and employment opportunities.
- Run small group sessions or larger presentations on all aspects of careers work and topics related to personal development and employment
- Plan and organise careers fairs
- Maintain up to date information on employment and labour market issues and local services, sharing this with team members on an ongoing basis.
- Maintain accurate and up to date records of activity and outcomes in line with organisational requirements.
- Effectively manage a caseload of clients; monitoring, reviewing and reporting activity and outcomes in line with organisational and project targets.
- Contribute to the development of a service that is locally responsive and supports minority/disadvantaged communities.

- To take all necessary steps to be familiar with the Partnership’s Health and Safety Procedures, taking due regard for the health and safety of yourself, colleagues and visitors to the Partnership
- To work within the policies and procedures of the Partnership
- To work with other Partnership team members, to attend staff meetings, supervision, trustee meetings and other activities as appropriate
- To produce a work plan, provide progress reports, and to undertake monitoring as required
- To undertake training as appropriate
- To maintain confidentiality at all times
- To undertake other duties as required that are in line with the main duties and responsibilities of the post
