The Lady Rockets Sectional Champs Scholarship
APPLICATION OVERVIEW
The Lady Rockets Sectional Champs Scholarship has been established by the members of the 1988-89 LadyRocketsHigh School basketball team. This scholarship is in recognition of the accomplishments and success of the Lady Rockets team by winning the Sectional Tournament and becoming District Runner Up for the first time in FayettevilleHigh School history. Their accomplishments created the foundation for the strong program and pride that exists today in being a Lady Rocket. It is also most importantly inmemory of three team players who have passed on from the 1988-89 Sectional Championship team. The purpose of this scholarship is to celebrate the memory of these wonderful individuals while also rewarding a senior female athlete from FayettevilleHigh School who would like to further her education. The amount of the scholarship that will be awarded will be $500.00.
Rhonda (Ackman) Connor, Kelly (Hicks) Seaman, and Jennifer (Jennings) Fiscus were members of the 1988-89 Sectional Champs Lady Rockets basketball team that contributed to making history as the first basketball team to win a Sectional Title at FayettevillePerryHigh School. Their lives were too short, but all three have left us with their own amazing accomplishments to society and many wonderful memories for their family and friends. These three strong women and their contributions to the Lady Rocket program will not be forgotten by theirfellow FHS teammates. To honor their memory and spirit, the 1988-89 Lady Rockets basketball team would like to give back to the future generations of scholar female athletes at FHS by recognizing an outstanding female athlete and help with furthering her education.
Applicants need to be a graduating female senior athlete from FayettevillePerryHigh School with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Each applicant must have their completed application returned to Jenny Seymour, Treasurer of the Scholarship Committee, post marked no later than April 20th. The Lady Rockets Sectional Champs Scholarship recipient will be selected based on the applicant’s ethics, behavior, attitude, ambition and academic promise. The selection of the recipient will be made by the scholarship committee which are members of the 1988-89 Lady Rockets basketball team. Announcement of the scholarship recipient will be made at the Fayetteville High School Academic Awards Ceremony.

The Lady Rocket Sectional Champs Scholarship has been established to award a Senior female athlete a monetary award for the furthering of her education after High School.
This scholarship is in recognition of the accomplishments of the 1988/89 Lady Rocket basketball team that made school history by winning the Sectional Tournament and becoming District Runner Up for the 1st time in Fayetteville High School history. It is also most importantly in memory of three players from that team; Rhonda (Ackman) Connor, Kelly (Hicks) Seaman, and Jennifer (Jennings) Fiscus who have passed on. Their memory, spirit, and contributions to the Lady Rocket athletic association and to Fayetteville Schools will not be forgotten by their teammates, the community, and future generations of scholar athletes at FHS.
Applicants need to be graduating female senior athletes from Fayetteville-Perry High School with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Each applicant must have their completed application post marked to the above address no later than April 20th of their graduating year.
