Developments in OD-ETD practices

In November 2006 SAQA registered the new and greatly improved Bachelors Degree in Occupationally Directed Education Training and Development practices at NQF level 6 (B degree in OD-ETDP)

The degree can be achieved by means of four qualifications each of which can be studied individually but each of which is also a stand-alone qualification.

1.  Further Education and Training Certificate in OD-ETD practices at NQF level 4

2.  National Certificate in OD-ETD Practices NQF level 5

3.  National Diploma in OD-ETD Practices NQF level 5

4.  Bachelor: OD-ETD Practices NQF level 6

Achievement of any individual unit standard, combination of unit standards or individual qualification will earn learners credits towards a specific qualification initially and ultimately the full bachelors degree.

All programmes have been developed in such away as to allow for integrated assessment
Integration will be achieved when unit standards are assessed in clusters linked to each specific exit level outcome as identified in each particular qualification all of which can take place in the context of an active ETD environment, dealing with the diverse demands related to ETD.
For the purposes of integration, assessment will be guided by the relationships between each exit level outcome and associated unit standards.

Example

Exit level for assessors could include the following unit standards on an integrated basis

Ø  Conduct outcomes based assessment

Ø  Design and develop outcomes based assessment

Ø  Conduct moderation of outcomes based assessment

This has made upgrading of qualifications for existing education and training practitioners easier. In addition gaining access to qualifications for education and training practitioners is now more viable and exciting for the following reasons.

Ø  Ideal opportunity for those wishing to enter an education and training career

Ø  Learners can gain entry to qualification at various stages of their career
