Position Summary: The Public Relations Senior Manager is responsible for managing all public relations efforts at DKMS in the US, reporting to the Director of Communications and Marketing. This position will play a key role within the marketing and communications department, developing brand awareness and securing national press, developing and execute a public relations strategy and calendarthat extends brand awareness through internal efforts as well as manage a public relations agency.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and communicate with a full-service public relations agency
  • Develop and implement strategic PR programs to achieve significant increases in brand awareness
  • Build a strategy to leverage and coordinate stories across broadcast, print, digital and social media platforms

Liaise with public relations firm to constantly filter information to agency

Improve public perception and presence by developing PR strategies, campaigns, and initiatives

  • Formulate policies and procedures related to public information programs
  • Write and edit collateral materials as needed, including: attention-grabbing and effective press releases, prepare information for digital and hard-copy media kits and as needed for the company website and intranet. develop and maintain company internet or intranet web pages
  • Responsible for developing and executing a media outreach programs to promote DKMS and create a stronger brand awareness
  • Monitor national and local media to find key articles/pieces to share with donors and DKMS employees to keep each abreast of media intelligence across industry, brand and competitors
  • Work with Communications DepartmentMarketing team to manage briefing, routing and approval for advertising, communications, and initiatives
  • Develop and executecrucial communication materials, including: press releases, talking points/messaging documents, Q&As, executive speeches, media pitches and other materials as needed
  • Respond to information queries from media and the general public
  • Identify audiences for campaigns, print, and all media outlets
  • Manage DKMS’ reputation externally
  • Compile comprehensive information about the organization for the media

Write clear and compelling pitch letters, press releases and by-lined articles

  • Identify media trends, news cycles and spin opportunities
  • Proactively manage editorial calendars
  • Analyze and measure results of PR programs
  • Manage budgets and campaign ROI
  • Monitor for secured media coverage, competitive intelligence, and maintain the online communications

Will collaborate with the Director of Communications and Marketing in planning and executing regional and national events

  • Managing all Communication direct reports, including interns
  • Ad hoc projects

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 4-64-3-55 years of PR, Journalism experience. Event planning experience a bonuspreferred

Minimum of 2-3 management experience is a mustNon-profit and/or agency experience preferred
