The KMTA MUSIC CARNIVAL!!

Featuring: the Dorothy Woodcock Endowment Sponsored Ribbon Festival

and WSMTA Music Literacy Program

Dear Students and Parents:

The KMTA Music Carnival is just around the corner!!! We’re excited about all the many fun activities that will make our Music Literacy Program Day a festive time for our students. We are especially thankful to the Dorothy Woodcock Endowment, whose generous funds are helping to support this special event. Some points of information before the Big Day:

The KMTA Music Carnival will be held Saturday, April 28, from 10:00 a.m. to approximately 3:00 p.m. at Gateway Fellowship, 18901 8th Ave. NE, Poulsbo. In order to avoid long lines, you are asked to register at ______. Registration will be in the School Gym.** Projects (Art, Written and Listening) will be displayed in the Gym, so you may drop them off right after registering, and pick them up when you leave.

*NOTE LOCATIONS: All Carnival games and food will be located in the Gateway School Gym. Strings Students: Exams for Strings Technique and Sightreading will be held in the Music Room in the Main Building. All other exams will be taken in the regular exam rooms in the West Wing or Gym Building. Please see attached Facilities Map and follow signage. (Also check your registration card for exam levels as some of the exam rooms are split up according to level.) Parking is behind the Gym (entrance off Lincoln across from Poulsbo Library, or off Hostmark behind Gateway Fellowship).

*Students may do their events in any order, and may take a break at any time to visit the Carnival activities in the Gym: face-painting, carnival games, theory games, and snacks for purchase. (Complimentary beverages.)

*Lunch will be available for students, families (& teachers!) beginning at 11:30 in the Gym. There will be a special student participation activity on improvisation from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on the stage. You are encouraged to bring a lunch, or purchase lunch at the Carnival. We will have 2 entrée choices:

Pizza for $2.00 a slice, or Hot Dog and Chips for $1.00.

There will also be a variety of whole fruit and snack items for 25-50 cents each. (Again, beverages are provided.)

*We again have a Ribbon Category for Theory Gamesthis year. All students are automatically registered at their Theory level. Students may find the assigned Theory Game table (located in the Gym), play a game (or 2 or 3…) and receive their Ribbon.

*Ear Training Exams for Levels 3-10 will be given at these scheduled times, so plan your day accordingly:

Level 3 (10:05am, 10:50am, 11:35am, 12:45pm, 1:35pm); Level 4 (10:20am, 12:30pm); Level 5 (10:35am, 1:05pm); Level 6 (11:05am, 1:20 pm); Level 7 (9:45 am, 12:10 pm); Level 8(one time only at 11:20am). Additional exams will be administered beginning at 2:15 as needed.

*Our KMTA Music Carnival is a huge undertaking for KMTA each year, and we simply could not run it successfully without the gracious and willing help from our teachers and from MANY student and parent volunteers. We do our best to keep everything running smoothly throughout the day, but occasional mix-ups or backups in exam rooms are inevitable. We appreciate your patience, good humor and understanding as we try to accommodate the needs of every student. (Expressions of thanks to our volunteers are also most welcome and appropriate!) ?

*Dress for a Carnival!! and plan for FUN!!
