Case Officers in the Visa and Immigration Section of the Australian Embassy in Belgrade are responsible for assessing and deciding visa applications for entry to Australia. Excellent written and spoken English skills are essential. As the Visa Section manages applicants from the Western Balkans Region and beyond, language capabilities from this region are highly desirable. An understanding of Microsoft programs and general computer literacy is also necessary.
Duties may include (but are not limited to) the following:
· Assessing applications for entry to Australia in accordance with Australian legislation and policy
· Drafting and recording clear and accurate assessments in English
· Receipting applications from clients, including managing money in accordance with Australian Government requirements
· Managing own caseload and effectively contributing to meeting team processing targets
· Maintaining and monitoring data in the various information management systems, relevant to own caseload, to ensure timely, accurate decision-making and to appropriately manage client expectations
· Using judgement and critical thinking to analyse information provided by clients and escalate matters to senior levels if necessary.
· Using information technology tools including departmental systems as well as Microsoft applications
REQUIRED SKILLS

• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including fluency in both written and spoken English and local languages.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS – TEMPORARY VACANCIES
Potential temporary vacancies are for full-time 12 months contracted positions with the Australian Embassy, Belgrade, at a monthly gross salary of EUR 1,762 for 40 hours of work per week. Employment terms and conditions of service are governed by the Locally Engaged Conditions of Service. Successful candidates will require a police clearance before commencing employment.
