Course Description
This course is designed to acquaint the student with the theory and practice of creating educational and instructional interactive multimedia. The course will allow students to examine the use of technology in supporting learning, to examine the way in which multimedia has been adapted to fit different learning modalities, and to practice creating interactive lessons using multimedia authoring software for relevance and effective use in the learning environment.
Course Objectives
- To become competent in the use of internet search engines
- To search for and identify quality content-based multimedia resources including photos, clip art, sounds, blogs, podcasts, and others
- To become competent in the use of PowerPoint and Windows MovieMaker in classroom utilization.
- To create blogs and podcasts to meet curriculum goals
- To develop curriculum materials that make use of Internet resources to enhance learning
- To use telecommunications to discuss, publish, and share materials with others
- To become competent in the use of media software to enhance learning

Methodologies
The class will use lecture, group discussions, hands-on computer labs, and student presentations. All class meetings will take place in the computer lab. Students will be expected to work both independently and cooperatively in groups to share information and experiences and to develop substantial group projects. Results of research studies will guide the development of student assignments. Emphasis will be placed on a student’s growth in knowledge and skills during the course of the semester.
