I have gained over the years multiple certifications, a professional structured approach towards defect diagnosis and repair in many varying electronic/IT systems. Fitting well into a team I also have the flexibility and initiative to work alone at a home base or out on-site. Working alongside customers on-site as an outsource contractor has made me aware of using sound commercial judgement while dealing effectively with any problems that arise. Jun 2003 – Presently. CSC and Alenia Marconi Systems. (Extension from BAE ROD Rollout)

Systems Engineer: Rollout of new builds over multiple sites and 4500 users for Alenia Marconi Systems using PowerQuest over the network and by Ghost at the users desks. Software utilised; Windows, Office and Outlook 2000 on desktops and laptops. Additional tier 3 applications added by SDO and at desk side. Working as part of a team at allocated sites. Documentation produced for users and deployment engineers.

August 2002 – Jun 2003. CSC and BAE Systems (Contract renewed 4 times).

Systems Engineer: Desktop and Laptop rollout of Un1ty software builds over ten sites and 5000 users for BAE Systems Royal Ordinance Division using PowerQuest over the network or by Norton Ghost and CD at the users desks. Software utilised; NT 4.0, MS Office 97 and Outlook 2000 on desktops. Win 2000 loaded onto laptops and configuration of mobiles, IPAQs, Cameras etc. Many other software utilities added at users desk or sent by SDO include but not limited to SAP, MS Project, Visio 2000 and AutoCad. Trouble shooting of customer’s issues after build remotely using TNG, over the telephone or by desk visits. Training of users on new software installed. Working as part of a team and Individually at allocated sites. Documentation produced for users and deployment engineers.

Support Engineer: Desktop Support on DELL desktop and laptop units running Win 2000/NT 4.0, MS Office 2000/97, Outlook 2000, Business Objects, Citrix and Oracle. Installing and upgrading software. Rollout of new PC’s with Windows, Office and Outlook 2000. Configure/repair/build new and old desktop/laptops. Trouble shooting of customer issues in office environments. Telephone and network cable installation and patching.

April 2001 – May 2002: BAE Systems, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Systems Support Engineer: (Sole Engineer on site. Asked by BAE Systems to return to Saudi Arabia to continue in the support of computer and networking equipment. Refer to the Alenia Marconi Systems job description below).

Norton Ghost used to build desktops. Rollout of Windows NT 4.0, Office 97 and Outlook 98. Unicenter TNG for software delivery and remote control of networked PC’s. Hyena NT administration software utilised for both remote local and domain wide checking/supervision of users/systems. General trouble shooting of customer calls.

Jan – Apr 01: Perot Systems (Quintiles Account), Edinburgh, Scotland.

Site Support Engineer: Performed a wide variety of technical support tasks, as installing and upgrading software, configuring/building new PC’s/Laptops, maintaining printers and server backups. Trouble shooting of customer issues in the call centre, laboratories and office environments. Using TNG RCO and Norton Ghost software. Provided training and consultation on delivered services. Working to SLA’s. Rollout of new IBM machines to replace ageing Compaq units. Hardware used includes Compaq and IBM Laptops, desktops and servers.

May 99 – Dec 00: Alenia Marconi Systems, Cwmbran, Wales and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Network Support Engineer: Installed, commissioned and subsequent one-year on-site warranty support of PC’s communicating over numerous 100Mbps Fast Ethernet networks for BAE Systems and the Royal Saudi Air Force. Windows NT 4.0 Server, NT Workstation and Win 95 with software including MS Office, Macromedia Authorware and Alenia Marconi proprietary software. A Digi-Beta Voice Communication System simulating Radio, Intercom and telephone voice traffic connected as a sub-system to one of the local networks.

  • Prepared and delivered a six-week training course to RSAF personnel in the operation, defect investigation, repair and maintenance of the installed equipment.
  • Provided on-the-job training to RSAF technicians during the subsequent one-year warranty period.
  • Maintained a 99.98% serviceability rate over the 13-month warranty period. 10 minutes training lost during

Systems Engineer: Upgrading new Avionics Equipment. Installation and testing of Computer controlled Terrain Navigation and GPS systems.

May 91 -Dec 98: British Aerospace Plc. Saudi Arabia.

Systems Engineer: Carried out scheduled maintenance to investigate, diagnose and rectify Inertial Navigation Computing systems plus peripheral equipment using GEC Marconi and Ferranti ATE.

Maintained and repaired Pentium PC controlled special to type equipment and peripherals on local networks and stand alone systems using Win 3.11, 95, 98, and NT 4.0.

Electrical and Avionics Engineer: Inspection and repair of all avionics and electrical systems including UHF/VHF radios, ILS/Localiser, and pitot-statics during all stages of servicing.

Field Service Engineer on IBM mainframes and PC’s. Repair of computers, printers, and peripheral equipment on site in Factories, Hotels and small businesses. Repair of the defective equipment in the workshop.

Avionics Engineer: Specialist conversion courses on Jaguar, Canberra and Harrier aircraft avionics systems.

In the workshop: Maintained and repaired to component level, computer controlled integrated flight guidance and control systems, inertial navigation computing systems, cockpit displays and instrumentation.

On the aircraft: The rectification of system faults as reported by the pilot on inertial navigation computing systems, communication equipment, radar systems, head up displays, laser ranging units, electronic countermeasures, cockpit instrumentation and displays, and auto stabilization control systems.
