Saturday, November 14, 2015 Mississippi Museum of Art
Greely Myatt was born in Mississippi in 1952. He earned his BFA at Delta State University and his MFA at the University of Mississippi. He currently teaches at the University of Memphis. Greely has had more than 20 solo exhibitions and participated in dozens of group shows. His works can also be found in many public and private collections. Myatt’s work is often witty, references pop art, and prompts a conversation for the viewer. Frequently his work includes images of communication as in his large series of comic-strip thought-bubble motifs created in steel, wax, electricity, found objects, and linoleum. The Mississippi Museum of Art has invited Greely to exhibit some of his work in the Mississippi Story galleries during our conference. Examples of his work, a video, and a full CV can be found at the David Lusk Gallery site: http://davidluskgallery.com/artists/greely.myatt/

Friday Evening Circle Event
5:00-8:00
Mississippi Arts Center
Inspired by the National Visual Arts Standards Unit Design Template, the 2015 MAEA Friday evening event will be all about the circle. We will wear circles, eat circles, and have circle prizes! Start working on your attire now (circular prizes for the most creative) and begin collecting circles to use in a table sculpture contest (bottle caps, paper towel rolls, paint cans, etc.)
Dinner is a fajita bar catered by Izzo’s (with circular tortillas and cookies)!
