INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING SKYPE FOR RPI CONFERENCE CALLS

You need to ensure that you have downloaded Skype onto the computer that you will be using.

If you are a first time user, then follow the prompts and Skype will guide you on how to set this up and how to run a test. You will need a headset with microphone if this is not already installed on your computer. A camera is handy for calls, but not required for conference calls. Make sure you set up a profile that includes a picture of yourself – so we can see who is talking.

You also do not need to be on Skype to be joined to the call – we can call you in from any phone or mobile, anywhere in the world.

General Instructions for Joining the Call

  1. Open Skype on your computer
  1. Plug in your headset/microphone if required to do so
  1. Log into Skype
  1. Wait to be joined to the conference call.

Host Procedures

The RPI office will host the call unless Peta is away. If Peta is not on the call, then here is the procedure to follow. Perhaps Vick can be the back-up host until we all get the hang of this.

  1. Go to CALL button on the top Skype toolbar.
  1. Select Start Conference Call
  1. Add callers
  1. Click on START

Adding a Caller to the Conference Call

To add in someone on the phone you must have Skype Credit, which is why the office will we hear he has credit and we can reimburse him 29c somewhere done the track.

  1. Go to CALL button on top toolbar
  1. Select Call Phones
  1. Dial selected number and press green call button
  1. When call is answered select MORE button (3rd from left)
  1. ADD TO CONFERENCE CALL

The call cost is minimal to have anyone connected to the conference call. So whether you are out and about or at your computer – this becomes really easy and cost effective.

Please make sure the following contacts are in your Skype contact list, so we can see if you are online and ready to be connected. Search by Skype name or by email address to find us. (Skype name in brackets)

Sending a File

From time to time you may want to send a file to the conference group i.e. (I’ve forgotten to send the minutes with the agenda). Well now we can click on this feature and send a document for all to look at. I like it a lot!!

And, as we say in the land down under – ‘Bob’s your Uncle!’ Or translated that means, it’s all good mate!
