Dear School Guidance Counselor:

The following pages are the application and application information for a student to apply for the Marinette Rotary Club Scholarship for the graduating class of 2015.

The Marinette Rotary Club will award a $500.00 scholarship to one student in the graduating class of 2015 from each school. Applications are being accepted from Marinette High School, Peshtigo High School, and Saint Thomas Aquinas Academy.

The last day our committee can accept applications is April 15, 2015. If we receive more than two qualified applications from one of the schools we may request an in person oral interview of the qualifying candidates.

The applicant must supply a copy of his/her high school transcript showing the students current GPA.

“Service Above Self” Scholarship Application

ELIGIBILITY:

A student who will graduate this year from Marinette High School, Peshtigo High School, and St. Thomas Aquinas Academy.

A student who will be attending one of the two local two-year campuses: NWTC or UW MARINETTE.

A student who is a positive student-model who exemplifies the Rotary Motto of “Service Above Self”, and who demonstrates good daily citizenship and strong character. Also any student whose area of study would be of benefit to the communities of Marinette and Peshtigo upon her/his potential return to the community upon completion of her/his education.

A student who preferably ranks in the top half of their class as well as having obtained a cumulative GPA of 2.5.

DIRECTIONS:

This application must be typed or computer printer generated.

Your response to the questions cannot exceed the space on the single pages available.

A copy of your High School transcript must be attached to the application.

Submit the completed application to the business office of the Marinette Rotary Club, Attn: Cathy Smiley, Scholarship Committee, P.O. Box 91, Marinette, WI 54143, postmarked or hand delivered no later than April 15, 2015

All applications will be reviewed by the Marinette Rotary Club Scholarship Committee. Finalists may be interviewed by the committee at a date, time, and place to be determined.

The recipient must establish and maintain full-time equivalent status at either of the two named campuses.

The Marinette Rotary Club will pay the college/university directly on behalf of the recipient upon receiving proof of full-time status.

The scholarship will be in the amount of $500.00.

The student may be asked to attend a Marinette Rotary Club meeting and address the club members.

The student may be asked to volunteer their time at a Rotary Sponsored community event.
