Purpose of the Role

To support business development and growth opportunities in the District through engagement with businesses and key stakeholders, sound use of economic data and developing/supporting business programmes & initiatives.

Key Result Areas

  1. To work with existing businesses to support growth though advice, signposting, networking, enabling access to funding, and assisting in the development of business plans.
  2. To coordinate a corporate approach to business investment and to prepare business cases for provision of new premises or extensions to existing ones.
  3. To improve the conditions for inward investment in North Norfolk, through for example,identifying infrastructure needs, undertaking supply chain analysis and improving marketing and promotion.
  4. To maintain a database of key businesses in the District and collate and analyse economic data to support Council economic development and inward investment strategies.
  5. To liaise and work with key sectorial groups to identify a range of business needs including skills and workforce development.
  6. To provide economic development advice to planning officers on major employment and retail developments.
  7. To ensure a good communication and information flow withbusinesses, local business groups and key stakeholders.
  8. To represent the Council at meetings.
  9. To take responsibility for your own Health and Safety at work and that of other persons who may be affected by your actions.
  10. Any other work required and as directed within the confines of the existing grading and post.
