The Saskatchewan Sport Awards are held annually by Sask Sport Inc. to recognize the outstanding achievements of Saskatchewan amateur athletes and coaches as well as the generous individuals who volunteer their time and talents to improve amateur sport in the province.

The Athlete of the Year Awards are divided into six categories: Master, Youth Male, Youth Female, Male, Female, and Team. Nominees for the Athlete of the Year Awards are submitted to the Sask Sport Inc. Awards and Recognition Committee by the Provincial Sport Governing Bodies.

This year, the committee received 33 nominations for the Athlete of the Year Awards, from which three finalists were selected for each category. The volunteer Presidents of the Provincial Sport Governing Bodies and the Saskatchewan sports media will then vote to select a recipient in each category. A Note from the Competition Chairperson

A reminder to all coaches and competitors that the Well Balanced Program criteria must be followed for all levels of STARSkate during competitions. It is evident at the first few region competitions this season so far, that there are still some programs that are not following the criteria. Some of this is due to skater error (i.e. forgetting programs) and some due to program construction. The Well Balanced Program criteria is available in all competition announcements this season as Appendix A. Please take the time to review it and ensure your program meets these requirements.

Officials are trained and instructed to take deductions in the 6.0 judging system for any elements that do not comply with the Well Balance Program criteria.

Thank you for your attention to this matter
