POSITION SUMMARY

The Knowledge Broker position, under the direction of the Knowledge Exchange Lead, is responsible for tasks related to deliverables of the Manitoba Addictions Knowledge Exchange Centre. This position will be responsible for ensuring specific tasks assigned to them by the KE lead are successfully completed within deadlines. This position will work collaboratively with other KE Centre positions to ensure staffing and running of the Centre’s and progress towards the KE Centre’s deliverables.
Deliverables:
1.  Seeking out and maintaining resources and cutting-edge knowledge/research in the addictions field
2.  Actively reaching out to partners/networks to share the most recent, innovative information on addictions by providing literature scans/reviews, summaries of research and identifying information of particular interest
3.  Promoting the MAKE Centre and its valuable resources to our partners
4.  Consulting with our partners on the gaps in knowledge and information in the addictions field
5.  Collaborating with our partners to promote evidence informed decision making tools
6.  Updating, maintaining and enhancing the MAKEconnections.ca website

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibility 1. – Stakeholders & Networks 30-35%
Ø  Assist in developing and delivering strategies to engage key stakeholders and partners
Ø  Assist in the development and delivery of KE strategies & tools
Ø  Assist in identifying knowledge gaps through consultation with partners
To ensure MB addiction system stakeholders and partners are engaged this position will assist in active outreach to identified stakeholders & partners.
Responsibility 2. Research & Knowledge Translation 30-35 %

Activities:

Ø  Active engagement with the most current knowledge related to addictions from a variety of sources
Ø  Critical engagement and translation of the knowledge to make accessible to key stakeholders in the MB addiction system by providing literature scans/reviews, summaries of research and identifying information of particular interest
To ensure that the Manitoba Addiction system has accessible, relevant and current knowledge to allow for evidence informed decision making and services
Responsibility 3. Staff coverage of Centre 20 %
Ø  Complete assigned tasks related to the daily running of the Knowledge Exchange Centre including
•  fielding and researching knowledge inquiries/literature searches, scans and summaries
•  staff coverage during hours of operation
•  assisting with duties related to the annual projects for the physical collection
To ensure that the Knowledge Exchange Centre is a proactive source of knowledge where partners feel welcome and engaged and where quality resources and knowledge can be accessed.
Responsibility 4. Participation in Provincial PEC team 10-20%
Ø  Facilitate ACCP courses and other AFM trainings as needed
Ø  Contribute and participate in AFM staff development projects as needed
To ensure that AFM’s PEC positions are networked and knowledge and expertise of each is accessible both internally and to the broader MB addiction system.
