2016 Drake Physics Prize Examination

This examination is open to any student enrolled in a high school in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Nebraska, and will cover those topics in physics which would normally be studied by students during their First Semester of their high school physics curriculum: mechanics, gravitation, fluids, heat, and thermodynamics. A four-year unrestricted, full tuition scholarship to Drake University will be awarded to the student with the top score. Additionally, the top 50 seniors are invited to apply for a second full four-year scholarship restricted to a physics or astronomy major at Drake University. Alpha Kappa Psi Scholarship Fund

The Alpha Kappa Psi Scholarship Fund is awarding scholarships to students who attend the Carlson School of Management who have strong academic records and leadership experience. All of the scholarships include housing. The housing portion of all of the scholarships covers 12 months of housing at the Alpha Kappa Psi house. You do not have to be a member of Alpha Kappa Psi to qualify for these scholarships, but scholarship recipients are required to live at the Alpha Kappa Psi house. Playing with a Purpose Award

The 2014-2015 Sports Quest Playing with Purpose Scholarship Program is now accepting applications. $2,000 scholarships are available to Christian Student Athletes. Sophomore, Junior, and Senior athletes must meet the following criteria to apply:

1) Must be currently a high school sophomore, junior, or senior; 2) Must maintain a minimum “C” average or higher; 3) Must currently be a varsity level athlete in one or more sports; and 4) Must be a committed follower of Jesus Christ. Minnesota Family Involvement Council

The FIC has officially launched the 2016 scholarship application, which is available only in electronic format at This is a free service to MN Credit Union Network affiliated credit unions. Our committee raises money through donations from credit unions, vendors, individuals and other companies; creates the scholarship application for your credit union to market to members; judges all applications (generally 1,000 or more are received annually); selects winners; verifies members in good standing; and provides promotional packets to all credit unions with winners. The 2016 scholarship question is: "Other than family, what tools or resources do you use or see yourself using to make sure you are financially healthy?" Eligibility guidelines include:

1.Must be one of the following:

•Traditional: Current high school student graduating in 2016

•Traditional: PSEO (high school students utilizing post-secondary education option but not graduation in 2016)

•Non-Traditional: Post high school student or those returning to post-secondary after some time off

2.Must be planning to attend or be enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited nonprofit school, a public or private college, community college, technical college, or graduate school (both master and doctorate). Awards will not be disbursed until the student is accepted and enrolled in an accredited institution.

3.Must be enrolled in at least one course at the accredited school during the scholarship application time frame.

4.Must be a member of a Minnesota Credit Union Network-affiliated credit union.

5.Must be a credit union member in good standing (as determined by your credit union).

6.Information provided on the application must be accurate and solely the authentic work of the applicant.

Additional Notes:

•Financial need is not considered in the selection of the scholarship recipients.

•Neither members of the Minnesota Family Involvement Council or their immediate family and household members are eligible to enter.

•Applicants will be asked to approve that their names, words and/or photos can be used in various media to promote the credit union scholarship program.

Redwood Electric Cooperative Scholarship

Redwood Electric is honored to partner with Basin Electric to award a $1000 scholarship to a dependent of a Redwood Electric Cooperative member (parents pay electric bill to Redwood Electric Cooperative). This scholarship is available to high school seniors and college students enrolled full-time in an accredited two or four-year college, university or vocational/technical school working on an undergraduate or master degree.Applications are available in Mrs. DeBerg’s office. The Scholarship deadline is February 5th, 2016 in our office NO LATER than 3:30 pm.

Northern State Music Scholarship

The Department of Music at Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D. is scheduling in person audition dates during the week of February 19-26, 2016. Students who are interested in attending Northern State University and are planning to be a part of their music program are encouraged to register on-line at northern.edu The deadline to submit an audition by CD or DVD (Unlisted Youtube video is recommended) is February 12, 2016.

World Class Mediacom Scholarship

Mediacom Communications will award up to 55 scholarships of $1000 each to graduating high school seniors attending accredited post-secondary institutions in the fall of 2016. The selection of the scholarship recipient is based on:

Children of Warriors National Presidents’ Scholarship

Fifteen scholarships will be awarded for the 2015-2016 Auxiliary year. Three scholarships will be awarded in each Division of the American Legion Auxiliary; one in the amount of $3,500; one in the amount of $3,000, and one in the amount of $2,500. Spirit of Youth Scholarship for Junior Members 2015-2016

Five scholarships in the amount of $5,000 will be awarded for the 2015-2016 Auxiliary year. One scholarship will be awarded in each Division of the American Legion Auxiliary. Candidates for this award shall be/shall have been Junior members of the American Legion Auxiliary for the past three years and must hold a membership card for the current (2016) year. Department of Minnesota Scholarship

Department scholarships are awarded to deserving sons or daughters, grandsons or granddaughters of a veteran who are in need of financial assistance to avail themselves of higher education at the post-secondary level. These scholarships are to be applied only toward the expense of tuition, books, or similar fees, at an accredited institution of higher learning. Each scholarship will be paid directly to the school in the amount of $1,000 for any one year. Satisfactory progress must be made with grades reported to the Department of Minnesota. American Legion Auxiliary

Scholarship for Non-Traditional Students

Five scholarships, each in the amount of $1,000, will be awarded for the 2014-2015 Auxiliary year. One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded in each Division of the American Legion Auxiliary. All are gift scholarships and not loans. Candidates for this award must be a member of the American Legion, the American Legion Auxiliary, or the Sons of the American Legion and shall have paid dues for the two preceding years and for the calendar year in which the application is made. Applicants must be a non-traditional student returning to the classroom after some period of time in which his/her formal education was interrupted or a non-traditional student who is just beginning his/her education at a later point in life. Milford O. Larson and Lois M. Larson Scholarship Program

Applicants to this scholarship program must be graduating high school seniors with a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 grading scale who plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at a four-year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year pursuing a course of study in one of the following technical areas: science, business, technology, engineering, pre-med, accounting, or pre-law. Social science, arts, and political science courses of studies are ineligible. Awards to this program range from $1,000 to $5,000. Applications are available at

Buick Achievers Scholarship Program

Applications are now open for the Buick Achievers Scholarship Program! Are there students you know who are dedicated both in and out of the classroom? State Farm Good Neighbor Scholarship

The State Farm Good Neighbor Scholarship doesn't require a high GPA, but rather focuses on students who are leaders and volunteers in their communities and demonstrate financial need.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a 2016 graduating high school senior.
  • High school seniors must have a cumulative GPA between a 2.5 and 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Plan to enroll full-time for the 2016-17 academic year at an accredited 2- or 4-year college, university or vocational-technical school.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen

Redwood Electric Cooperative

Operation Round Up Scholarship

A scholarship will be granted to individuals who will graduate from area high schools and plan to continue their education by attending college, vocational school, or trade school. Applications will be accepted from individuals whose parent or guardian is a Redwood County Cooperative member. Selection will be made on basis of character, community involvement, and academic ability. Applicants agree to being mentioned in Redwood Electric Cooperative’s newsletter. Vallely Will Fund Scholarship

Senior students interested in this scholarship should see Mrs. DeBerg or Mr. Moriarty. Students must be planning to enroll in a full-time course of study at an accredited post-secondary institution and must show financial need. Scholarship is also based on grades, leadership, community involvement, work experience, etc. Application deadline is March 5, 2016.

The American Musical and Dramatic Academy Auditions

AMDA is accepting applications and holding auditions for enrollment in Los Angeles and New York beginning in the Summer and Fall 2016. They offer over $10 million in scholarships each year. Bachelor of Fine Arts Degrees and Conservatory Programs include: Acting; Music Theatre; Dance Theatre; Performing Arts; Acting for Stage, Film, and Television; Theatrical, Commercial, and Concert Dance. Past Presidents Parley Health Care Scholarship

The Past Presidents Parley Health Care Scholarship, a one-year scholarship for $1,000.00, has been established to assist needy and deserving students or adults to commence or further their education in any phase of the health care field including the entire medical, nursing, and dental support fields. Coolidge Scholars Program

The Coolidge Scholarship is a full-ride scholarship that covers a student’s tuition, room, board, and expenses for four years of undergraduate study and leadership training. It can be used by recipients at any accredited U.S. university. The scholarship program is administered by the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation. New Ulm Area Sport Fishermen/EE Mecklenberg Environmental Scholarship

At least one $500 scholarship will be awarded. Students must be planning a career in the environmental field and intend to enroll in an accredited 2 or 4-year university or college. The scholarship check will be disbursed after the recipient has completed the first quarter/semester of college in the fall and shows verification that he/she has earned a minimum 2.250 GPA during the first quarter/semester of college. Students must submit a high school transcript (GPA will be considered, but will not necessarily be a determining factor). Students must submit at least two (no more than three) letters of recommendation. (At least one should be from your school and one from an outside source.) Students must submit a resume showing any environmental work or activities (paid or volunteer) you have done. Students must write an essay (no more than one page) telling us about yourself, why the environment is important to you, and what your future goals are. Applications are due by March 25, 2016.

Minnesota Women’s Golf Association

This scholarship is a $3,000 per year renewable for four consecutive years which totals $12,000, and it is made available to high school senior girls residing in Minnesota and planning to enroll in a four year college program the year the application is submitted. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of scholastic rating, financial need, and school achievements, leadership, and activities. Although skill or excellence in the game of golf in not a criterion, candidates shall demonstrate an interest or involvement in the sport. The applicant must have a grade point average of 3.2 or above, and a copy of the submitted FAFSA form must be included showing the parents income level for the past year. This must be included when the application is sent or the application will be considered incomplete. Applications are available in Mrs. DeBerg’s office. Student Loan Finance Corporation Scholarship

Student Loan Finance Corporation is pleased to announce the availability of 5(five) scholarships for Minnesota high school seniors. These $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to Minnesota high school seniors attending a college, university, or technical institute for the 2016-17 academic year. Every scholarship will be automatically entered into a drawing for a free iPad. The criterion for the scholarship is that the applicant must be 1) a high school senior during the
