If you do not see the class you want on the following pages,please send us a message with as complete information on the class you are looking for as practical. We will let you know by return e-mail of any added classes. Even if the class you want is not added in session 2 this will help plan for classes in future sessions.

MDTC Session 2Schedule

Classes: 5 March 2018 – 16 April 2018

(Unless otherwise on the class).

(No Monday evening classes on 12 March due to MDTC meeting that night.)

Registration is 17 February – 3 March 2017

Applications will be accepted any time after this list is posted on the MDTC Website.

(Walk-In registration is Saturday 3 March 2018 from 1-3 PM.)

Session 2 Day Classes

Monday

9:00 – 10:30 Agility Skills:All levels from almost ready to trial and up. How to use handling skills on course will be stressed using mini courses Standard and JWW.

Tuesday

10:00 – 11:00 BN/Novice Obedience Run Through:

Class will accept all but is taught in run-through format. We will cover both the existing stay exercises and those in effect after May 2018

10:00 - 11:00 Open Obedience Instructional: Elements of the Open level will be covered including

new ones replacing group stays.

11:00 - 12:00 Competition Advanced Basic Obedience: This will be an instructional class. Dogs must have taken Basic Obedience and know all Novice excercises (heeling,stays,recall,exam,figure 8) but don't have to be proficient. These skills will be built on but not taught.

11:00 - 12:00 Conformation: Open to all levels of handlers and dogs.

12:00 - 1:00 Intro to Open Obedience:Skills class is for teams new to the Open level. Elements introduced (not taught) will be taking/holding dumbbell, retrieving, jumps and new signals. Dogs must be under control off lead.

1:00 – 2:00Rally Novice/Intermediate/Advanced/Excellent:

Thursday

11:00 - 1200 Advanced Basic Obedience: Non competition. Dogs must have taken Basic Obedience.

12:00 - 1:00 Scentwork: Advanced not for beginners. Container work interior and exterior. Exterior

work dependant upon weather.

Session 2 Night Classes

Monday

6:00 - 7:00 Basic Agility: Dogs MUST have completed intro Agility. Contacts will be introduced and handling taught in Intro will be expanded upon.No reactive collars allowed but slip leads are allowed. Students expected to help set up and break down equipment.

7:00 - 8:00 AKCSTAR Puppy Obedience: For pups 12 weeks to 7 mos for large breeds, and up to 10 mos for small breeds.

CAP: 8 Cat Vines BLDG 17

7:15 – 8:30 Open Agility Handling Skills: Dogs MUST be ready or almost ready to run Novice trials. This class is not for dogs weak on equipment. Can be inconsistent on weaves. Students expected to help break down class at the end.

7:00 - 8:00 PuppyAgility:For pups 3 mos to 7 mos

7:00 - 8:00 Basic Obedience:

7:00 - 8:00 Advanced Basic Obedience CGC/TDI: Dogs must have completed Basic Obedience. Distractions will be used (such as balls, squeaky toys, food etc.) on stays, recalls and heeling. CGC test offered at the end of the session at no cost for those taking this class.

Wednesday

5:30–6:30Excellent/Master Agility Run Thru: Dogs must be qualifying at Open level Students are expected to help setup and/or break down course.

5:30 – 6:30 Novice/Open Barn Hunt: For dogs starting BH thru the Open level CAP: 6 Ginger Wade

7:00 – 8:00 Excellent/Master Barn Hunt: Dogs must be qualifying in Open trials.

7:00 - 8:00 Novice Agility: Dogs must be using all equipment but can be weak on contacts and weaves. Class will concentrate handling and weave entry. Students expected to help setup and break down equipment.

Thursday

5:30 - 6:30 Canine Conditioning: This class is for Instructors only. Students do not have to pay or use passes. Goal is to develop a lesson plan for this to be offered as a class. Also to determine what equipment should be used. Feedback from students is needed and expected. This is a 4 week class.

6:00 - 7:00 Rally Novice/Intermediate: .For teams that have taken Intro Rally thru Intermediate. New signs will be covered.

7:00 - 8:00 Scentwork: Entry level through Birch. Containers and Interior

Those Dogs that have not taken an Obedience class with us are expected to have dogs under control at all times.
