National WIC Association Leadership Conference Scholarship

Conference Dates March 2-4, 2014

As part of the 2014 Missouri WIC State Plan, we are offering two scholarships for LWP staff to attend the NWA Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. on March 2-4. This conference provides a forum to discuss Federal initiatives affecting the health and nutritional well-being of WIC mothers and young children and WIC’s role as a preventative public health nutrition program. This scholarship targets emerging leaders in WIC and includes the following requirements:

  • Must be a current employee of a local WIC agency;
  • Complete the application, detailing leadership activities, contributions to WIC and reasons for wanting to attend the conference;
  • Attach a letter of reference from the WIC agency administrator;
  • Attach copy of your resume;
  • After the conference, attendees will be expected to share experiences through a written article and either a district meeting or a forum at the 2014 Missouri WIC conference.

The State WIC Office will provide funding to the selected applicants’ LWP, specifically for this conference that will include:

  • Conference Registration ($325)
  • Travel to and from local agency to airportat the state reimbursement rate of $.37 per mile.
  • Air flight to Washington, D.C. (fly into DC on Saturday, March 1 ($700)
  • Luggage fee if necessary
  • Airport parking fee
  • Metro/taxi from airport to hotel
  • Hotel room (any personal items charged to room will be the expense of LWP) (@ $265 per night)
  • Food at Per Diem for Washington, DC. (5 days @ $66/Day)
  • Release time to attend conference for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (Mon – Wed).
