Meet “Life on the Lakes”Juror, Jeanne Danforth

We are pleased to host North Country-based artist, Jeanne Danforth, as our 2016 juror. Jeanne is a member of the Adirondack Artist’s Guild in Saranac Lake, NY, and co-owner of North of Adirondack Artist’s Gallery in Malone, NY. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the Kansas City Art Institute. In 1975, she moved to Ellenburg Depot in upstate New York. After being immersed in dairy farming for many years, she decided, in 2004, to devote as much time as possible to her true passion….creating fine art.

Since 2005, Jeanne has exhibited at numerous venues around the North Country, including forARTSake, the Foothills ARTSociety Gallery and Pouring Light Studio Gallery in Malone, NY, the St. Lawrence County Arts Council in Potsdam, NY, the Lake Placid Center for the Arts in Lake Placid, NY, the Chateaugay Lakes Arts Festival in Merrill, NY, the Mountain View-Owls Head Arts Festival in Mountain View, NY, North Country Cultural Arts Center in Plattsburgh, NY, and The Local Fringe Art Gallery in Saranac Lake, NY. She has received numerous awards for her pastels, paintings and drawings.

“My art springs from an overwhelming compulsion for tactile exploration. As a child needs to minutely examine experience, so do I. My surroundings express themselves. I am merely the vehicle.” Jeanne Danforth
