Position Description

The Board’s purpose

To protect the health and safety of members of the public by providing for mechanismsto ensure that psychotherapists are

competent and fit to practise their professions.

Date:October 2016

Reporting to: The Board’s Registrar

Functional relationships: Registrar, Recertification and Audit Committee, the Board.

Commitment: Approx. 25-30 hours, between February and April each year. This will depend on the number of auditors available.

Note: As much notice as possible will be given by the Registrar or Registration Officer, and communication will be ongoing.

Remuneration: $80.00 per hour

Position purpose

To contribute to the Board’s principal purpose of protecting the health and safety of members of the public by:

  • ensuring that psychotherapists are engaged in professional development and maintaining their competence to practise.

Requirements

  • a masters-level qualification or equivalent in psychotherapy;
  • a psychotherapist in the Psychotherapist Scope of Practice or Psychotherapist Scope of Practice with Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist Specialism;
  • current AnnualPractising Certificate, with no conditions; and
  • own computer, access to the internet and the required tools to undertake the role.

Experience

  • a minimum of 10 years post psychotherapy qualification experience in the practice of psychotherapy;
  • a minimum of 5 years experience providing clinical supervision.

Skills

  • personal organisation and self-management; self-directed, self-motivated;
  • ability to meet deadlines;
  • excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • proficient in Microsoft Office; and
  • good communication and relationship building skills.

Auditors will be required to develop

  • a basic knowledge of the role, functions and purpose of the Board;
  • knowledge of relevant Board policies and procedures.

Responsibilities / Tasks / Expected outcomes
Undertake the annual recertification audit. /
  • Audit psychotherapist Recertification Plan against the Board’s recertification policy, and checklist.
  • Inform the Registrar whether the audit meets or does not meet Board requirements.
  • Recommend any modifications to the forms and audit process, as required.

  • The recertification audit is undertaken in a timely fashion within agreed timeframes.
  • The Registrar is advised of outcomes and any concerns that may need to be followed up regardingpsychotherapists continued professional development. This includes providing the Registrar with clear, specific information if further communication with practitioners is required.
  • Thataudits are managed and communicated to the Registrar in a professional, organised manner.
