General Description of Post

An integral role supporting our retail outlets with the collection and distribution of stock items. Most items will be donated from the public, local businesses and other organisations. The role may also include house to house collections. In addition to stock generation the post holder will be expected to support the retail outlets with minor maintenance requests.

Key Responsibilities

1Operational

  • To collect stock from donation bags and via calls into The Donna Louise and deliver to The Donna Louise shops. This may include furniture collections.
  • Delivery of goods (mainly furniture) to purchasers’ homes
  • To support, lead and manage stock collection volunteers.
  • To transport goods from site to site.
  • To provide minor general maintenance skills as required.
  • To remove and properly dispose of excess waste from shops.
  • To distribute donation bags in a defined area.

2Legal Compliance

  • To ensure compliance with all Health and Safety legislation/practices particularly the Manual Handling Operations Regulations and ensure safe lifting practices are observed at all times.
  • To ensure compliance with all legislation requirements ensuring knowledge of and compliance with relevant driving requirements.
  • To adhere to all policies and procedures that The Donna Louise operates.
  • To inform line manager and / or HR of any accidents or traffic offences as soon as reasonably practicable.

3Administration

  • To maintain accurate and up to date records to The Donna Louise requirements of work done.
  • To ensure any vehicle allocated to you is maintained in a road worthy condition. Ensuring regular vehicle checks are made (minimum monthly recorded with weekly checks) and a copy of monthly record given to your line manager.
  • To monitor and check the security of the stock and cash under his/her care and report any shortfalls or concerns to your line manager and / or HR.

4General

  • To act as the representative of The Donna Louise and to implement the highest standards of customer care and services.
  • To perform all reasonable and related duties as required by the Charity.
  • All Parking/Spending Fines etc. incurred will be paid by the employee.

Training and Education

  • To attend staff development programmes, training courses and study days as deemed necessary by the Charity
  • To take personal responsibility for attendance at mandatory training,
  • To take personal responsibility for ensuring all competency assessments are completed and reassessed on an annual basis if applicable to role
  • To take personal responsibility for identifying any gaps in knowledge / skills and taking appropriate action to rectify this

Communications and Working Relationships

  • Subsequent to the Charity’s policies on professional and personal relationship boundaries, the post holder is expected to foster excellent working relationships with all service recipients, staff, visitors, volunteers and donors. In particular they are expected to deal sensitively with all children, young people and families with whom they come into contact.
  • To act at all times in a professional manner, respecting the need of colleagues and co-operating to maintain a harmonious team working environment.

Flexibility

The days and times of work for this post may vary according to operational needs. The post holder may be required to work flexibly to cover for the absences of colleagues and for other operational reasons.

Policies and Procedures

The post holder must comply with the policies and procedures of the Donna Louise and will be responsible for reminding themselves regularly of these. The post holder will be made aware of relevant policies and procedures during induction and mandatory staff training and when they are introduced from time to time.

General

The Charity has to continually modify and improve its service. This will inevitably mean that modification of structures and thus job descriptions will prove necessary.

The post holder will be expected to co-operate with changes, which the Charity may wish to introduce over time, however you will be consulted fully about any proposed changes which could prove fundamental to your role at the relevant time.

This Job Description is not intended to be exhaustive but outlines key tasks to be undertaken. It will be reviewed in consultation with the post holder on a regular basis and will be adapted to meet the changing needs of the Donna Louise.
