Rain Forest Activity

Activity #1 Construct a rain forest Climatogram with the following data---DO NOT CHANGE THE DATA. Then, convert 27 and 28 degrees from Celsius to Fahrenheit, and convert 17, 19, 22 centimeters to inches. (see examples below)

Hint: Temperature should be labeled to the right of your graph and plotted as a line graph. Precipitation should be labeled to the left of your graph and plotted as a bar graph.

The months should be labeled at the bottom of your graph.

You should also include a title for your graph.

January / February / March / April / May / June
Temp (C) / 27 / 27 / 27 / 28 / 28 / 28
Precip (cm) / 22 / 17 / 18 / 19 / 20 / 18
July / August / September / October / November / December
Temp (C) / 28 / 27 / 27 / 27 / 27 / 27
Precip (cm) / 19 / 23 / 20 / 21 / 25 / 28

CELSIUS TO FAHRENHEIT:

To convert Celsius temperatures into Fahrenheit:

·  multiply the Celsius temperature by 9

·  divide the answer by 5

·  add 32

Example
Change 20 degrees Celsius to Fahrenheit:
20 times 9 is 180, 180 divided by 5 is 36, 36 plus 32 is 68 degrees Fahrenheit.

CENTIMETERS TO INCHES

To convert centimeters into inches:

§  multiply centimeter measurement by .39

Example

Change 5cm to inches:

5 times .39 = 1.95 inches

**CONVERT 27 and 28 degrees Celsius to degrees Fahrenheit.

**CONVERT 17, 19, and 22 centimeters to inches.

PLEASE SHOW ALL WORK FOR CALCULATIONS!!!

Activity #2 On a separate piece of paper, design a diagram that shows the vertical levels of a tropical rain forest & the animals and plants that live and feed at each level (layers of the rainforest). You may draw the animals and plants, or simply write what kinds of animals and plants are found at each layer of the forest.

Activity #3 Define deforestation on a separate piece of paper. Write three pros and three cons to deforestation.
