General information on the camps organized by InformaGiovani

InformaGiovani organizes its camps always in co-operation with a local partner which is mentioned in the description. The partner is responsible for the work plan.

Working time

In each camp, work is organized on a 5 days per week base. Normally the week-end is free but, according to the task assigned to the volunteers, it may happen that also Saturday or Sunday are working days. In such case, volunteers will have free days during the week. Daily work can be, according to weather conditions and the needs of the camp, from 5 to 7 hours.

Age of volunteers

Due to insurance reasons, the age of volunteers accepted in IG camps is from 17 to 65 years, but not all camps, due to decision of the local partners or to the working situation, are open to volunteers under 18. In each camp on e-vet database we clearly mention the actual age limits for the specific situation. When we get applications from volunteers over 35, we inform them of the possibility to be “old” in “young” groups and give the possibility to take a tough decision.

In any case, volunteers under 18 must apply attaching to the application form a declaration released by responsible kin or guardian authorising the volunteer him/herself to go abroad and to take part in the camp.

Applications from volunteers under 18 will be rejected if not accompanied by the mentioned form.

Insurance

All volunteers joining IG camps are ensured by general insurance scheme subscribed by InformaGiovani with CAES (Italian Consortium of Ethical Insurance).

This scheme covers:

a)Medical assistance (up to 1.500 euro) only for causes connected to the workcamp

b)Death

c)Permanent handicap resulting from an injury incurred during the workcamp

d)Liability toward third parts (in case of damages to persons of goods caused by the volunteer during the camp, the insurance will cover all related costs), up to 50.000 Euro

This scheme does not cover travel risk and travel days.

Information on the insurance system is provided to each volunteer together with the infosheet.

Extra fee

Each volunteer participating in IG camps has to pay an extra fee of 25 Euro.

The fee is to be paid once, no matter how many camps the volunteer will attend and is to be paid on arrival to the first camp, to the camp leader.

What to bring

In each camp organized by InformaGiovani, volunteers must bring the following things:

Other specific items needed in each camp are mentioned in the infosheet sent to volunteers.

Late arrival/Early leaving

Each volunteer is expected to arrive at the camp place on the first day and leave on the last day.

In case of exceptional circumstances, he/she can arrive one day earlier or later and can leave one day earlier, informing in advance the camp leader or the contact person mentioned in the infosheet.

Information on arrival/departure time is to be sent to the camp leader no later than one week before the camp. Last minute applications/inscriptions are not involved in this rule.

One day of early arrival and one day of late leaving are not subject to any extra fee or other cost, provided the volunteer has to take care of his/her food.

Extra days

Only if previously communicated to and agreed with the camp leader or the placement team of InformaGiovani, and only when technically possible due to hosting place, the volunteer can stay more days for personal need and/or tourism. In such a case an extra fee of 5 Euro per each extra day is foreseen and is to be paid in advance. The volunteer remain responsible for his/her food. Extra days are not covered by our insurance.

VISA issues

Volunteers from countries whose citizens are required to have a VISA to enter Italy, must provide the placement team of IG with the visa information form available at as soon as they get confirmation of acceptance in one IG camp. IG team will then provide an invitation letter and full assistance to volunteers in their dealing with Italian authorities. Copy of the insurance contract is attached to the invitation letter.

Please note that:

  • some Embassies or VISA offices, require also info about travel insurance and about travel tickets. Together with the invitation letter, we will provide you the copy of our general insurance contract, but please be ready to provide information on travel at any stage of the VISA issue procedure.
  • the invitation letter is normally sent only by email. It is upon the volunteer's responsibility to check if an original is needed and to provide IG placement team with correct info to delivery it.

IG staff is able to interact only with Italian authorities. It is therefore upon the volunteer's responsibility to check what is needed in case of transit in other countries than Italy or in case a Schengen visa is required to a country different than Italy.

IG 2.1FESTA PER LA LIBERTA’ DEI POPOLI

TheFesta dei Popoli is a multicultural festival organized by a group of associations whose aim is to provide the city with an intercultural and ethnic event where people can meet, discuss and learn from eachothers on the issues coming from actual times and share togeher the marvellous place which is the Forte Altavilla, the venue of the festival. It is also a place where people from different ages, experience and nationalities can enjoy this summer event which is unique in the City

WORK:

Volunteers will help local volunteers in advertise, settle the festival,help in the kitchen, keep the Forte clean and clean after the event. Volunteers will join also cultural events within the festival wich will take place from the 17th -19th July 2014

ACCOMMODATION:

Accomodation will be in a school near the venue of the festival. Showers will be taken in another buiding nearby together with meals which will be cooked by volunteers. During the festival they will eat ethnic food from the festival.

LOCATION:Ancona, The Conero park and beaches.Volunteers will decide together what to do with their free time.

IG 2.2LEGALITY IN CUPRA IS COSA NOSTRA!

IG is cooperating with Social Cooperative " Pane e tulipani" who is managing a confiscated goo from mafia in the town of Cupramontana hosting a community house for disabled people. General perception of mafia all over Italy is that it is located only in Sicily and therefore it is quite unusual to have such an important place in Marche region, in the middle of hills and quiet land. This cooperation would be very important in order to raise awareness on education to legality in the region and among local population.

WORK:

The work will consist in manteinance and garden work in the confiscated good in Cupramontana. Volunteers will cultivate, prepare tomato sauce and live according with the rural rithms and will follow biological agriculture principles. They will start their work day very early in the morning, will have a siesta at lunchtime and will work in the afternoon. Study part on education to legality will take place.

ACCOMMODATION:

Accomodation will be in the confiscated good inside tents, volunteers will eat what is produced by the garden.

LOCATION:The camp takes place in Cupramontana, a nice town among the hills famous for its white wine Verdicchio. The confiscated good is a farm, and was previously owned by "banda della Magliana".

Rio de Oro is an Italian ngo who is active in the promotion and support of Saharawi people and yearly organizes the Summer hosting programme, giving the possibility to disabled kids from Saharawi area to live in a different dimension and to make necessary medical check- up.Different local groups in Italy are hosting groups of kids.

WORK:

Volunteers will help local group of Ngo Rio de Oro in hosting Saharawi disabled kids coming to Italy within the frame of the yearly “summer hosting programme”, helping and supporting them during meals, daily tasks, medical check-ups and bringing them to excursions. In the first days of the camp, they will attend a specific training in order to be able to better interact with children. Also a specific training aboutFeldenkraisreahabilitation therapy will be offered for volunteers.

ACCOMMODATION: Accommodation will be in a school in Grottammare.

Apriti Cuore is an association involved in social inclusion of different kinds of people, such as minors, adults, young migrants, ex offenders etc, and in particular hosts kids and youngsters victims of violence and/or abuse and disabled children providing them daily animation activities and entertainment, centers for daily youth activities, sheltered communities for them.
WORK: The volunteers will be involved in activities related with the two disable centres (adults and minors).Probably during the service period volunteer will also develop outdoor activities which could imply spending nights in structures with the youngsters. Activities are related with social animation.
ACCOMMODATION:All the volunteers will be accommodated in a big room of the centreon airbeds.
LOCATION:The centre is located in the centre of Palermo and thus the volunteers will have chance to visit different places of interest in Palermo

IG 6.1MONTE SAN BARTOLO PARK

Monte San Bartolo Park belongs to the regional network of parks in Marche Region. The S. Bartolo Park is characterized by the stretch of high, intense sea-cliffs which go from Gabicce to Pesaro, a rarity in all of the Adriatic coast. The rest of the protected territory is made up of rural landscapes actively cultivated until the 1950s even in places which today would be unthinkable, practically reaching the sea. Today, a part of the old cultivated lands have been returned to natural vegetation, while continuing to be the identity of an agricultural territory within the complex of the park territory. Each year the Park participates to the bird migration census, and invites volunteers and interested people to join.

WORK:

The camp on bird migration is part of a study carried on by international network on birds migration. In Italy there are a dozen sites managed by parks, reserves or associations naturalist / environmentalist which every year, in spring or autumn, observe migratory birds, particularly raptors. Volunteers will have the opportunity to learn to recognize different birds of prey in flight and take the data with scientific methods. In addition, in our park, volunteers will have the possibility to participate in 2 fields of study: the ringing and direct observation of birds with binoculars, two different but complementary techniques to study migration. In the end, being in a natural park of great environmental value and being supervised by experienced and available local responsible, volunteers will keep a useful training on birds and migration.

ACCOMODATION : in bungalows

LOCATION: The camp takes place in the very nice location of the Monte San Bartolo Park, close to Pesaro city and not so far from Gabicce beach and Gradara Castle and Urbino.

Eco Villaggio Habitat, in cooperation with the local town hall of Gambassi terme is organizing a laic festival regarding the trekking path of Francigena road, which passes trhough Gambassi Terme town and is walked through by many tourists:

Volunteers will support the ECO VILLAGE in the organization and the management of the festival in the city and in the outskirts.

ACCOMMODATION: Accommodation will be in tents (provided) at Habitat Eco Village and they will eat at the festival.

LOCATION: The village is located among the provinces of Firenze, Siena and Viterbo in the typical Tucany landscape.

Eco Villaggio Habitat is a project which includes besides the safeguard of rare plants and endangered species of animal, self construction with natural materials and an applied study of permaculture principles which help men to live more in a sustainable way with nature. Volunteers will experiment “happy Degrowth” principles applied to daily life in order to reduce impact on the planet, find more sustainable ways for human impact and become a “Future Farm”.

WORK:

Volunteers will support the ECO VILLAGE in the collection of the olives and in the works in the farm according with permaculture principles and to do some works in the wood nearby, in order to help plants to grow better.The timetable will be organized according with agricultural and outdoor activities style. Study part on permaculture and self sustainability will take place during the camp.

ACCOMMODATION: Accommodation will be in tents (provided)

LOCATION: The village is located among the provinces of Firenze, Siena and Viterbo in the typical Tuscany landscape.
